There, you see? People need to recognise that amphibians are people too.

I'd have no problem if Rikki came back, just as long as nobody posts Chit's rake photo again. *shudder* *grin*

Speaking as a member and not SC:

I'm really surprised to see all this support for Rikki; but then again, I was shocked at the level of forgiveness displayed in the original thread as well.

Seems like with all the obsession about scores around here people would be a bit more skeptical of someone who repeatedly tried to manipulate them. Personally, I'm thinking about all the people who were robbed of their time in the limelight because of the misplaced ribbons.

However, if Rikki decided that he wanted to come back I'm sure that as a community we could find a way to make it work.

I agree with a previous poster that I don't know why he would want to come back. he is very successful at another site so i don't know why he would come back here knowing that he would probably do well (seeing his recent work he would) and that many people would question that. why go through that.

If he decided he wanted to I wouldn't care. I have made many mistakes in my past and would be nowhere if people hadn't forgiven me. I do agree with my wife in that i would wonder. When i see him win at the other site I wonder. I am sure he is not cheating but it takes a long time to begin to trust again.

We wouldn't have multiple page threads going on wondering about it.

I for one, find it rather amusing to see there is still such a large fan club of someone who was caught cheating. Yet - we have threads every week bemoaning "trolls" and what to do about getting rid of them. ???

Ditto.

Lesser offenses have been met by Banishment except in this case...

Was there a misplaced ribbon?

Apparently, yes.

I'm a forgiving kind of guy, so I say let him back. But if he does it again....

Also, I've talked with him over at one of the other sites. So I really don't have any problem with him. And he's doing well over there, by the way.

while dpc still remembers him
i wonder if he still remembers us at all, lol

I would welcoe him back. His passion and enthusiasm for photography and learning was contagious - he definitely brought something to the site and the forums. I do not think his actiosn were malicious, and I remain unconvinced that he went out of his way to manipulate the scores. Even if he had I would still be inclinded for forgiveness.

I would however be surprised to see him back as it would take a mighty bit of courage to rejoin, knowing that some would never trust him again. I know what it is like to have a major part of your life sliced away. I don't know to what extent Rikki gained personal meaning from DPC and his successes here, but I hope the time away has helped cure him of obsessive behaviour and helped him understand the priorities of life better.

Sometimes it's hard to get a straight answer here. If my memory hasn't crashed again I think there was someone who entered someone else's photo in one of the challenges.....might have been Rose. Then again, they may be referring to Tokyo Rose who broadcast anti-American propaganda to our troops until we dropped the big one.

Question: Has anybody heard if Rikki wants to come back?

I talk to Rikki and all I can say is that the thread was my idea, not his.

Rose was just someone with too many opinions and too much time on her hands. She rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and would never back down in a thread always having to have the last post. Flame wars followed her every step. She was suspended and/or banned and then came back under the name espy (a big no-no to create a second account). That was eventually discovered and she was banned again. Every once in a while people fear she has returned under another guise.

I do know he liked DPC and what it had to offer and hasn't quite found that in his new home (although he has enjoyed other aspects such as teaching). However, he is certainly aware of the uphill battle he may face and is not necessarily excited about those prospects. That's a nutshell, and I'll leave it at that.

I want him to come back. But it is his choice, and there were alot of things said in anger about him. That has to make it hard to come back.

Despite what happened, he is a really sweet person and IMHO a great photographer.

"Tokyo Rose" received a full Presidential pardon -- it was pretty conclusively demonstrated she was coerced into making those broadcasts.
