Several people have contacted me about the DPC podcast and when it will resume. A site council member even suggested that DPC might want to look at making it an official part of the site instead an independent project like it is now at www.dpcpodcast.com. I'm curious how much interest there still is in a podcast. I LOVE the idea of a weekly podcast for this site and it seemed there were a fair number of people listening but a lot of people didn't get it and thought it was a silly idea. The reason the podcasts have stopped is that it is so incredibly time consuming to put a show together the way I was doing it. I'd like some feedback here to know if there is still interest in a podcast for DPC and if so, what sort of information would you expect to see in a podcast? How long do you think a typical episode should be? Did you enjoy the interviews? Do you want to see more or less of them, etc? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. |

I really enjoyed the interviews. I found the sections talking about what had been talked about for weeks in the forums sort of pointless - it was rehashing old news. The interviews were great though. If you plan to continue, I'd suggest focusing on creating new content/ bringing up new issues, rather than following what has already been talked to death ;) |

It was neat hearing voices to put with online personalities, but I really don't have time to listen. Listening to a "talk show" requires more concentration than I have to spare while working. |

I've not listened to any of the Podcasts, but will download them tomorrow and have a listen.
What I would like to hear though is tips for beginners, maybe a few photoshop tips, composition tips and so on.

I enjoyed the podcasts...but do agree the issues need to very current topics and maybe not quite as long. I do enjoy the idea of a 'discussion' of two sides of a topic in one.....!

How about a video podcast with DrJones' model. DrJones doesn't have to be in it. :P

I thought all of the interviews were great.
I did not care for the discussions that re-hashed topics that had already been re-hashed a dozen times in the forums.
Lately, I've been watching Dane Sanders' "Simple Photo Minute" podcasts, and while they are video podcasts, he has a feature called "What's in Your Bag" which is just like it sounds; an interview with a photographer while they discuss what they have in their bag, what they use it for and why they like it. That segment doesn't last more than 4 or 5 minutes, but is interesting. |

I think shorter segments are definately a good idea, and I agree about discussing the same things which are happening in the forums - this is bout to divide listeners and maybe even put them off. Posing new questions and things on the other hand, would prompt new discussion and raise awareness of the podcast. Interviews were great :)

Good input. Interviews are good. Rehashing topics from the forum are bad. I still have troubles getting people to do interviews though! |

Now all you need is a major credit card, some quiet time and some lotion. |

I really enjoyed listening to the podcasts on the way to work, and have missed them. I just liked hearing the thoughts of the folks I read on the forums here. I'm still left with a vivid picture of scalvert and hist tattered list of "good ideas" stuffed in his nightstand, at the ready for any appropriate challenges.
:-D

I started a topic a while ago asking about these, I really enjoyed them and the longer the better!
Agree with Judi, the for/against arguemtns worked well.. I can imagine they take a while to put together though, co-ordinating interviews etc..
Hope they do make a re-appearance. |

If you have problems getting people to do interviews, why not have an incentive, for example..those that have participated get to have a nice shiny gold star beside their 'username' or something along those lines.
Why do you always have to have an interview anyways ? I'm sure between us ll here we can think of content to fill up a show.
Sample Ideas:
- Discuss any up and coming new members and their work
- Joke of the week
- Tips and techniques
- Play back recorded messagse left on Skype? Like an answering machine where people can give other people 'shout outs'
- Debate topics
There is so much more content that can be used, you can only try :) By the way, i have asked someone to volunteer themself for interview, so will get back to you with an answer soon. |

Well, I downloaded all the podcasts over the weekend. Really good stuff there! I really enjoyed the nudecast, looking forward to hearing the argument against nudity.
Keep up the good work.

Point 1. excellent idea.
Point 2. not really.
Point 3. get a ribbon winner in to discuss a particular image.. keep it short, no more than 10 mins, about the idea behind it, the processing etc.
Point 4. Shout outs dont really encapsulate DPC.
Point 5. of course..
Point 6. Get some of the big players in for more in-depth interviews, we have already had Scalvert, how about Falc, Larus, Alexsaberi even Heida since we know she is lurking about still.
Point 7. Trawl the forusm for lively threads. discuss with the interviewee of the week/month etc.
Keep the podcast independent of the site though.
Love to see them come back, if I could help in any way then drop me a line.
