This is great advice for those people who feel like they've mastered the techniques of photography, but don't know how to really express themselves and lift what they do to the level of "art". Especially "You've got to start looking for pictures nobody else could take". Everyone has their own set of experiences, their own way of looking at things, their own history. This is what I love when I vote on DPC, looking at the way different people see the world, getting that little insight into their mind and seeing through their eyes. A lot of people probably have no idea how creative their photos really are, because, well, you can never step outside your own head and see what other people see in your photos :). If only we could.

The first tool I try and use is the mental crop tool which sometimes lets me see something interesting in a seemingly boring scene...or to spot a location where the perspective on a shot would be better and go there...
And I use Photoshop within the limits (barely) for this site... |
