(like getting a 5.7 when you want a 6+)

but,
if you try sometimes,
you just might find,
you get what you need

Sweet Skip!! And if they ever make their way down here, let me know. Sounds like a killer band. Can't go wrong with the Man in Black. :)

Way to go Skip! - eh - I mean Mr. Rowland.

Some day the goofy Skip Mr. Rowland pics I have will be surfacing at a celebrity roast or similar.

way cool ... and FWIW, I gave your shot an 8 ... thought it was great ... I love your work and hope to someday grow up to be 1/2 the photographer that you are!

nice job and congratulations skip. That goes to show how little DPC'ers know a good image when they see it. lol

You've been around here long enough to know pretty and uncluttered wins. And no complainin', Mr. "I've got AP after my name" Rowland. :-)

thanks all ya'll!

this shoot really was a trip. when the call came in for the assignment, they told me the band went on at 9:30pm, to be there at 9. when i got there at 9, there was NOBODY there except the sound guy. he told me the band went on at 11-thirty!!!

so i went home and took a nap.

came back, paid (again) for parking, ran into lead singer matt litton in the alley on the way in, and we hit it off. i shot their first set, finished up about 1, made it to bed about 2. the shoot was a blast, but boy, did i pay for it...

the next day, i felt so hungover--and that sucked, because i didn't even have the benefit of a buzz. see, i quit smoking 16 years ago. this bar, though, seemed to have a policy that in addition to the cover charge, you had to have a pack of smokes to get in. really. i don't think i saw a single person in there who wasn't lighting up. and sunday afternoon, when i opened my camera bag, it looked like a volcano getting ready to blow...i swear a huge cloud of smoke escaped. it reeked! such is life.

as for the challenge, i probably should have gone with this image and titled it to hook into the 'school days' description ;-)

Great job. That AP looks pretty good...
I can't get past the "contributed by" mode.

Great job as usual Skip. I love to hear your stories of success. You are very inspirational. Keep up the good work, and of course, post it here.

The story of the shot is at least as inspiring as the work. Thanks for sharing.

That's awesome. :)

PS* I had given that photo a 10 during voting. I LOVE it.
