That's what the man told me. :)

I love mine, I just wish I'd known how good the battery life actually was before I bought a spare. This thing hardly eats batteries at all...guess it's cause you're not using the LCD all the time. I have gone all day and filled over 3gig's of cards without changing batteries. I'm glad I have the spare just in case but if you can't get it right now don't worry to much. Mine was around $40.

Speaking of the battery...I know you're gonna be eager to play with the camera but let that battery charge fully before you start using it.

I would suggest getting the IR remote, it's really great. I found it cheap on Amazon. Also, if you ever look into an external flash the Promaster 5750DX does a wonderful job and is a lot cheaper than the Olympus ones.

Thanks...I really appreciate all the info.

The other thing about the E-500 is that the RAW processing software comes free in the box. With Nikons, you have to pay extra for the luxury of processing RAW files... )-;

I agree that the remote is a good idea. Possibly also the eyepiece magnifier but I have personally not tested or seen that.

Now if I can only figure out what to do with a RAW image once I get one! The Minolta that I have doesn't shoot RAW. Better read up on that too!

(I also wish Olympus would stop using non-standard memory -- I was never able to get a SmartMedia card larger than 128KB.)

ahh, that's right ... well, actually you mean has both CF and xD ... that was actually one feature that fell between my "pros" and "cons" column (despite their history with SM/xD). Sorry for the confusion. Also, I meant 128MB SmartMedia. :)

(edit for confused thought processes)
