you're funny adam .. or do you prefer ad???
you appear to be totally up yourself as well as ugly and smelly ... re your comment that you were hot ... or are hot ... or wotever ... and telling shez not to get too excited .. :) .. i hope you do realise that i dont mean a word of those insults ... :)
have you posted any photographs yet from yesterday and if so where are they ... ???
i've been up all night coz i have problems sleeping ... thank god i've got photoshop to get lost in ... i'm so tired that there's one i forgot to put in with the other's ... and when i consider the 'work' i did on it, then it means my brain is now totally fried ....
i looked at all your shots michael ... there are some excellent shots there and some total bummers ... the bummers are the one's of me!!!, but hey, if the subject sucks, then wot can you do ?? ..
love some of your other ppl shots especially the school kids with the marina sign in the background .. and the school kids with the seagull .. the statue of the bird with the fountain is awesome .. love the lean on the bird against the water .. WOW ...
the fronds with the circular stalk is also excellent ... the lizard lying on the branch is another wow ... in fact i'm sitting here by myself going wow out loud ... i'm so impressed ... just love your cassowaries especially the really close up one ...
anyway i wont comment on any more coz i'd be here all night ... i'll just finish by saying that your early morning shots are stunning ...

anyway this my less than perfect cassowary shot ..

I had a great time meeting all you wonderful fellow DPC's. I only wish I could have stayed longer but if I did I may have been converted by all those Nikon users.

I didn't take all that many shots but here are a few.

When do we do it again ??

Finally got around to processing a couple of shots from yesterday morning.

Opera House HDR

QE2 HDR

Will get around to the rest over the weekend!
If the links don't work when you try, give it an hour. My host is having problems with a sql query limit! Marvellous.

Cheers,
Scott

They're beautiful Scott, I'm jealous mine are nothing like that. The bridge on my QE2 shots are completely blown. Let's see the exif!

Have you got Photomatix working on Vista?

Thanks Mike,

No EXIF - shutter speed was different for each shot!

But, for the Opera House, f/9, ISO 100, 40mm
QE2, f/10, ISO 100, 40mm

& yes, photomatix works on vista

Ok I know I have been a bit slack in posting these
but I'm playing with lightroom 1.0 for the first time and have tried out their web gallery software
I had to sort through about 550 photos from first shot 5.30am till last shot 7.25pm (a very long day)

//www.mcgoffs.net/lr/dpc/content/index.html

and yes I had a great day.... all of it :)

Awesome shots Firsty and boomerakl. I love the Opera House one HDR really nice one mate :)
02/23/2007 08:04:11 PM · #138
thanx keith ...

Roz the shot was taken with a circular polarizer that gives it the darkening to the right the editing was using the direct positive preset in adobe's new lightroom.
it is a bit over the top but suits the image :)

i know wot you mean by over the top, but i love that photograph .. probably because it is a bit over the top !!... :)

hmmm think i'll have to go out and get a polariser filter .. excellent result ... dont think i'd go the circular one coz it wouldnt work in lots of scenes .. i think i should just try and keep it as simple as i can!!! ..
when i've caught up on my sleep i'm going to check out adobe's new lightroom ..

i'm still not sure about the macro lens ... after i got home i realised that owen had taken that amazing shot of the pelican with the one he put on my camera and all i did with it was to focus on a bloody pen ... wot an idiot!! ...

I like your QE2 shot boomerakl, very nice and you've got a great collection there Kieth,I thought you were just being quite, you must have been snapping them off left, right and centre.

Roz
you have to use a circular polarizer on a digital as the std.(linear) ones don't work properly

from tiffen's site
Certain camera optical systems employ internal surfaces that themselves polarize light. Using a standard (linear) polarizer will cause the light to be further absorbed by the internal optics, depending on the relative orientation. A Circular Polarizer is a linear one to which has been added,on the side facing the camera, a quarter wave "retarder." This "corkscrews" the plane of polarization, effectively depolarizing it, eliminating the problem. The Circular Polarizer otherwise functions in the same manner.

thank you AGAIN keith ...
thank god i didnt rush out and get a polarizer!! .. but from wot i understood, the circular polarizer creates the vignette appearance on the rhs .. or can you get circular polarizers that give a vignette to all the edges?
i'm putting a couple of others i found!! .. then i hope to sleep!!

Also I loved catching up with Roz, xxrozxx and can't wait to see her again while we are down here in Sydney..... She is a real blast, and only wished I could have stayed longer, to enjoy her company.....

Also loved meeting everyone else, especially Fiona, Hifi

Thanks to everyone else as well as I had a blast and now been to Melbourne for an overnight stay to see my new grandson Judd who is just beautiful.....

Sydney photos in a few days, plus some baby ones of Judd as well, when I settle, as I am just exhausted, aches and pains where I didn't know I had any, from the Sydney all day get together, and then to a flight to Melbourne for two days and one night stop over.
