I suppose we could do a 14-day challenge, and anyone who wants to just do 7 days could stop at the 7-days.

Will it be a free study or do we want some sort of loose subject or technical guidelines each day? With NO possibility of DNMC, by the way! |

I say we just do a Free Study, I need to work on getting my portrait shots correct in camera and I haven't been practicing enough... I suppose 14 days would be alright as opposed to 7 or we could call it a 7or14 minimal editing challenge in the spirit of Ware3927's suggestion so people could just stop whenever :)
I suppose I have a theme of my own... I would love to see other people follow some sort of theme that they love or just need to work on :)
WAZZZAH MATTAH SCARLET???? YOU SKERED??? :P |

Count me in if I can try just the 14 days. If you run the 30 days, we can each set up our portfolio with the amount of days we want to participate, and I think I can stick to just doing 14. I would love to see what kind of settings everybody uses for their minimal editing. Sharing settings would really be helpful. I think that getting back to the essence of photography and the connection we as photographers have with our cameras would be awesome. The camera wants to please us, does the best it can, but we can always help it along by trying to get the very best settings for the situation we are shooting.
In this case, I want to stick to one subject and one only. I think I am going to choose skies. It can be used to highlight a subject such as a tree, but all my shots have to have a lot of sky. That is one of the most difficult areas to shoot with minimal editing. |

hi alicia ... Redjulep
think someone's said its starting on 9th march .. i could be wrong and from wot i've read i think they are now deciding how long to go for, whether 7 days or 14 ....i think they decided early on in this thread that 30 days would be too long ....... i dont know who actually decides how long and when it starts tho ... ????????
and ad .. admajic
i do occassionally do minimal editing ... in fact did one for the 'tree' challenge and did another ... hmmmmmmmm ... actually never did!!!!!!!!!!! yeah it should be real interesting to see how i go with no editing .. bloody horrible i reckon ... you see i correct all my ignorance of photographic techniques in photoshop ... so without that tool i will totally SUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I fell off the 30 day where-you-live challenge thanks largely to a killer cold-flu, but I'm good to go for a 14 day minimal. I'm in! |

I fell off of the 30 day where you live challenge too because I have been working too much overtime at work. Im def. good for 14 days though, I think I will be minimal editing and the theme will be my pets.

Here's another idea - let's make it a 14 day challenge like this:
- The first seven days are minimal editing. If you want a theme or a technical objective, pick one of your own or copy someone else's. :-)
- Next seven days - edit your first seven pictures using advanced editing rules. Then post them side by side along with some information on what processing you used.
This way it can really be a good learning challenge - first in "seeing" and framing a picture in-camera, then developing that picture further. |

I have problems with 30 day or 7 day or 14 day challenges cos of work. Why not a weekend challnge that lasts for a month? In other words submit a Saturday and Sunday photo that span a month?
It is so much easier to submit a weekend shot or two. |

Steve, I kinda "cheat" because of work - I may only be able to shoot on the weekends, so I take enough to use for the week's challenge. No one will DQ you if you don't shoot each day. :-) |

OKAY, IT SEEMS THAT SOMEBODY NEEDS TO FILL EVERYONE IN SO FAR:
(Hope the OP don't get mad at me) LOL
STARTING MARCH NINTH
GO FOR EITHER 7 OR 14 DAYS, WHICHEVER IS BEST FOR YOU
There are no rules about when or what you can shoot, but you need to follow the minimal editing rules. Remember, this is not competition, it is a learning exercise and if you cheat, you cheat no one but yourself.
You don't have to turn in a photo every day, if you miss a day, do 2 the next day or do 14 on day 14 :)
NOW, YOU HAVE 1 WEEK TO PREPARE!! LET'S DO THIS!! :)
Anyone have anything to add??

I feel Melethia's idea is great:
7 days minimal editing, and then
7 days of PPing those first seven photos.
It will be like a double whammie exercise.
But I'm in, regardless - minimal editing will be great as it is. :o) |

wot an excellent idea deb ... i dont think i'd do any theme, coz its often difficult to keep to it ... like if i chose clouds or the sky, which i'd be tempted to do, but then had no clouds for 7 days!!! ...
just love this idea ... ITS THE BEST ... great to learn more about my camera and great to learn photoshop from each other ...
you are definitely a creative thinker!!! ... |
