I think the forecasters missed. We were supposed to get some minor freezing rain this morning. Instead we woke up to about 3" of snow. :D Great snow it is too; just the right amount of moisture for packing!!!

Little bit of fun this morning. Apologies in advance for the non-"artistic" snapshot family photos. :P

Great fun! I wish my kids were still at home...or the grandkids lived closer than 6.5 hours away. We got more ice here. Broke a few more tree limbs last night but now it's up to 54 degrees. Crazy Ohio winter weather.

What a great day! What great pictures! I couldn't believe it when I woke up this morning. I couldn't believe how big the flakes were today.

if you want to be jealous...

there is about 3.5 - 4' of snow over most of our yard - deeper in spots where the wind carried it... the dogs have learned to hop like rabbits in their effort to blaze trails - and they aren't small! it took us most of a day to dig the house out and get out of the driveway.

unfortunately after over a week it really hasn't melted at all- we actually got more like 6" more. it's been snowing daily... it feels like spring today - to me anyway - but it's only 26F and supposedly feels like 18F. it's been cold enough that the snow isn't any good for snowballs or snowmen.

They were huge weren't they! :D I had been playing outside with the kids, building snowmen, etc...and didn't have my camera. Finally, when I decided to grab some pictures the big flakes stopped falling. Oh well, that's the way it goes. :-)

BTW - I like your snowmen "family". :D

I'm in Detroit ... we got hit with the freezing rain!!! poor dogs were skating on the snow trying to go to the bathroom ... we didn't bother leaving the house at all today ... great lounging weather.

We're just getting it now. Forcast is 2-4 inches of snow first, changing to "significant" ice overnight. Fun!!

Unfortunately I had agreed to drive a transport for a rabbit rescue group today. A dusting of snow when we needed to decide ... snowing like crazy by the time I had to leave ... kept snowing and traffic was crawling all the way from Springfield to south of Fredericksburg, where the snow magically changed to rain. Went down to Petersburg and eventually made it back home, passing back from rain to snow as I went north. We ended up with 4-5" in Springfield, and it is kinda' pretty as it bends my trees and bushes down to the ground ;-)

Sounds like an interesting story in here somewhere. :D

As usual I was after bird shots. They weren't quite cooperating - these are typical. We had 7+ inches at my house, and my driveway is over 1800 feet long. I wore myself out with the snowblower and shovels.

I think you're starting to go "loco"! 1800 feet and you cleared it yourself?! Ours is 600 feet and I can't imagine... Our neighbor usually comes by with a tractor. Unfortunately, he may be moving so now we're looking at a snow blade for the John Deere we have. $$$!!!

I like this cardinal shot ==> . Kind of a different, unique POV from the typical bird shot IMO.

this was the one time I was looking forward to the ice because of the challenge and nothing we got a very little bit of snow that is melting away :( For the past few days the weatherman kept saying a major ice storm and again nothing :(
