Does anybody like text on photos?
I am looking for feedback on this photo

I happen to like Robert Frost.

I like text on photos and also I like Robert Frost.
I think your example is very nice but could use a larger font for easier reading. Beautiful shot and wonderful words.

Great photo, You could also try a white or yellow outline to that black text or even a soft white or yellow glow behind the text.

Good match of words to image. There are lots of font posibilities out there.

Here is something I did a while ago. Emily Dickens

Both of those are really nice.
jimmsp -- I'd suggest "ghosting" or lightening the area under the text, as it will never be readable otherwise with all the busy detail under it. Use either a soft-edged/feathered rectangle under the text block or a highly-feathered selection from the type. Cut the opacity of the area under the type to between 15-30% and you should be in the ballpark.

I like text on a photo for greeting cards etc. if not over used.
However for the most part I find it distracting and takes away from the
mood or emotion that I would get from the pic by itself.

I don't have anything against text on photos in principal - but it depends on the photo and the text. Text works better on blanker areas of a photo where it is easy to read and doesn't distract from the image.
In this example you have taken such a beautiful image that the text is (a) hard to read and (b) distracts from the photo. I would suggest adding a solid colour border and putting the text onto that in this case.

Just my 2 pence...
