I have my new Graphire. Yippee!

I got a 4x5, which is actually still too big. I find that I do my editing from my wrist, so I don't even cover a significant percentage of that size.

I've stumbled into the joy of using pressure to change brush sizes on the fly, so I set the max. brush size pretty big. And using the eraser by flipping over the pen is terrific.

Would anyone care to share other tips for getting the most out of my tablet?

I have a wacom tablet and don't have a clue how to use it. If somebody could post a tutorial or has a good site on how to use them I would really really appricate it :)

What sort of problem are you having? You use it just like you would your mouse.

My tablet doesn't have a pointer thing to tell you where you are on the screen. Maybe that is the way they all are but it's confusing to get use to. Or do I have a setting wrong on it or something?

I got a 4x5 graphire last week (bestbuy had them on sale and I had a rewards coupon - total cost $47!)
I like it for some things, but i tend to bump or bounce the pen off the tablet when moving from one side to the other to get to a menu and that keeps messing me up.
My desktop has 2 monitors and I have it restricted to one,but occassionally opens a menu/box on the other monitor, a PITA. I may try changing the settings to use both monitors - i too has used to a mouse and just my wrist.
It's better than I thought it might be, but it still takes some adjusting.

You'll always see the cursor just like with a mouse. If you can't see it the pen is too far from the tablet for it to register.

Oops - forgot to share a tip of my own. I set it to "mouse" mode, which means it doesn't map the drawing surface to the screen. So if I pick up the pen and put it down somewhere else, the cursor stays put instead of jumping. That lets me use whatever portion of the surface I want, instead of having to use the entire thing to reach everywhere on the screen.

I've also found myself keeping my left hand on the keyboard while using the pen in the right hand. I hit space to let me move around within a pic, alt to set the cloning source point, etc. I know the buttons can be programmed, but I find them hard to hit with the hand holding the pen.

I use it in tablet mode, so that I move the pen to where I want to work on the screen. I program some of the buttons to do things like Ctrl-Alt-Shift-E that merges visible into a new layer, things that seem to take a lot of keypresses but are useful often.

For those still inclined to making selections by hand, like me, the magnetic lasso and the pen in PSCS2 is a thing of beauty.
