How much would you charge for an image to be used by a graphic designer. I'm thinking along the lines of stock photography here, but if you were contacted directly without submitting your images to a stock library. Would you charge different rates based on the use of the image. For example, how much would you charge for an image to be used in a company brochure or pamphlet? How much for an image that was going to be used in an advertising campaign seen by the general public in magazines, posters, etc? Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

That's a real difficult question, Jason. Some of the stock agencies give you an idea of what their charges are - which seem to go upwards from about 100USD for web-site use (that's charges to users, not payments to photographers). i know that the storm chaser chap who shot the photo used for the twister movie poster gets about 10000USD for a shot - but his stuff is unreal.
