MVC as in Motor Vehicle Collision
Driving home today, I witnessed an accident between a car and a pick up truck, The truck won. Sadly all 4 occupants of the car were injured, including a 26 yr old pregnant woman.
After assisting them until rescue arrived, I went back and grabbed my camera from my vehicle.
Here are the shots...all have been submitted to the newspapers here and the nightly news channel. I don't know if they will use them or not. I'll have to wait and see.

Looking at the photos there seems to be so little damage to both vehicles (not counting the roof being cut off) |

Whenever they have to pull out the jaws of life thats pretty serious. I imagine they can't thank you enough for helping before emergecy crews arrived. Most people would drive around and not think twice. That was aweful kind.
Its kind of scary the way they have the covers over the bodies, as they do in fatality accidents.
Sad situation, I hope they are okay. |

Yeah well you could ram two tanks into each other at 60 MPH and not even break through a panel.
BUT im sure the occupants would be slammed into the nearest surface and bleeding from the head! |

the damage to the small car was pretty bad actually. The rear tire you can see is bent at a sideways angle, the back window was busted out by the rear passengers head, the drivers door was caved in, thus the rib pain the driver was complaining of. None of the occupants had seat belts on that I saw either. The pregnant woman in the front passenger seat not only had abdomen pain, but had a laceration to her mouth as she hit the dashboard.
The driver of the truck mentioned her foot was starting to feel a bit sore from her practically standing on her gas pedal trying to stop as the small car pulled out in front of her. The truck was traveling at 55mph (just one other truck between her and I, so I can tell from the speed we were all traveling.) The small car turned out right in front of her.
As for the covering the people in the car - that is done to protect them from glass and debris as the car is cut away. |

Hopefully she was standing on the BRAKE pedal not the gas. Nice work getting the important thing out of the way before picking up the camera.
If I could critique a little bit from the photos. The most important thing my editor reminds me is get faces not backs. People will connect with the photo and the story better with a face. An angle from the front of the car or the rear would have produced a better reader reaction. Also on the photos cutting the car apart, shoot tight and crop even tighter. Get in there(from a distance) and get the shot. Nicely done and keep shooting.

This is why I drive a long bed, crewcab, 4x4 wheel drive, diesel heavy duty pickup. If there is an accident I want to win too. |

and have trouble sleeping at night knowing you killed someone. Dont worry you can lose easily. I work at Koons Ford and make a daily trip tot he collision center. I should shoot some of the totaled trucks, we have everything from Navigators missing everything fromt he dash to the grill all the way up to F550 Wreckers that didnt quite get their AAA member back to the shop in one peice.
Outside of wrecks the service center alyways has plenty of Deisel F350-F550's.
1 - Those who modify theirs typically have a catasrophic failure or two within the first 3 years.
2 - Those who drive theirs everyday, come back 6 times a year!
F-150's are always getting their rear ends rebuilt.
Anyways enough of the high jack. Ive seen Celica's get hit on both sides by a dump truck and drive to the enarest parking lot and ive seen work trucks get smashed beyond recognition. It can go either wy depending ont he situation.
Your four wheel drive aint gonna save you once yoru hit, in fact it might mean yoru truck will be considered a total loss due to the repair cost (rememebr extra drifeshaft different front end assembly and transfer case). Long Bed's are more expensive and Crew Cabs.... boy dont even get me started on how bigger is not better. Lucikly your crew cab wether it be ford dodge or chevy is probly A 4 door and not 2 suicide doors. Suicide door trucks like the extended cab Ram rely on support from the doors and not the body. This is blessing and a curse.

Well first of all you are WAY out of line saying I would kill someone. If someone is driving stupid and gets in my way or anyone I hope it's the drunk or drugged idiot who learns the lesson. Second where in the hell did you get that I jacked it up or modified it to make it unsafe?? Go to a Suzuki, Hyundai or any of the small vehicles and compare them in accidents when they had a fight with any big SUV or pickup, in almost any case they loose and get hurt. I would much rather buy safety at any size or cost for myself and my family. This is America, buy what you want or what you can. I choose heavy bigger vehicles. Gas waster, nope, two trucks ago I had a Chevy Z-78 1/2 ton gas engine. I get 20% better gas mileage and can drive the HD a lot cheaper. In my work at one time I also needed the carry capacity. As of yet Japan has not been in competition ... yet. I had much more problems with my Chevy, finally after 4 rearend rebuilds and transmission failure (didn't tow with it eatiehr) I threw it back to Chevy as a real piece of junk.
I do agree with some of what you said. I totally dissagree with 4" or higher lifts and over-size wheels, stupid and very unsafe for the truck and other vehicles on the road. So you're twenty one, a little life experience and I'm sure you will be very bright. Thanks for the personal attack, you loose for totally wrong information on safety. AND yes I know some of the very small cars do have very very good crash and safety rating, but not so good when going against something bigger than they are. Out of my four married kids, three have had very bad accidents, two were small cars and a small truck .. they were lucky.
No rant, but also no personal attacks.
I pray the injured in this accident all recove completely.Originally posted by rainmotorsports: Originally posted by PhantomEWO: This is why I drive a long bed, crewcab, 4x4 wheel drive, diesel heavy duty pickup. If there is an accident I want to win too. |

well by time I got them to either it would be the 11pm news before the tv could use them if they decide to. The paper would be tomorrow. I'll let ya know :)
meanwhile one of the cops that was on the scene is either blind or nuts....I just got home from another outing and while driving home I got pulled over by a cop - one of those that was at the accident. He walks up and asks me "Did you just pass that other car?" THERE WAS NO OTHER CAR!!!! So my reply was : What car?
He then asked "can I see your ID Linda?" I said sure but how did you know my name? He said I saw you at the accident scene today. But he never asked me for ID or name there! so he takes my ID back to his car, only to return and ask me so where are you coming from right now? I explain I had a vet appt with my pug. He then hands me back my license and apologizes for stopping me and says be careful - and get home safe.
Very odd man
