DQ's get more views than images in the middle of the challenge. Frankly if you're not on the first two pages of finalists or the last two no one really looks after voting. DQ's are like car wrecks; we all have to go check it out. |

There you go...when frustrated, just blame the Americans. Seems to work well. I'm sure the fact that you got DQ'd has nothing to do with breaking a simple rule that said not to include anything edible.

disqualified images do not show up until after the challenge voting is over.
if someone posted their dq'd image in the forums, they must have re-uploaded it into their profile and posted that. |

If you do not understand the rules written in the English language, perhaps you can find someone to interpret them for you. If you just don't like the rules, you don't have to play. If you just don't like American rules then good riddance! |

The one I mentioned that showed up the other day wasn't a DQ'd image, it was still in the (Personification) challenge. I looked and it was readily available to vote on. After reporting the post it (the thread post) was hidden - I think scalvert took care of it. |

Hey everyone, let's all calm down. We're here for the fun and enjoyment of photography. Lets agree that we all have our own opinions and not get too emotional about it. Okay....how about a happy song.... |

The shot is very humorous and will be a nice addition to your portfolio. But you must admit, this challenge said no food or it will be DQ'd and this shot has food all over it.

The thumb tag will not work for challenges currently in voting. This includes entries disqualified from those challenges.
As to the entry, the Extra Rules for this challenge stated, "Photographs showing anything normally considered edible by humans as shown will result in a DQ." I really don't think we had much choice.

How do you expect an American to react, when you make a derogatory comment about their nation or their nation's way of thinking, and blame their country's way of thinking or interpreting for what you call a disservice, when what is truly to blame is your inability to properly understand the language or rules, which are clearly spelled out for every entrant?

Damn Yankees! Maybe this is a good thread to unveil my plot to invade and take over the USA. I think the USA would split nicely into four extra Provinces for Canada. I haven't decided on the Province names yet, however. Any suggestions? |

I had thought of using an Easter Egg for the Good challenge (as in Good Friday) and submitted the idea to site council. They were split on whether it would be allowed or not. On the one hands eggs are edible. On the other, an easter egg is a piece of art and actually contains no yolk or egg white (i.e. the edible part). I decided NOT to enter because even if it didn't get DQ'd, it would have gotten slammed by the voters. Carrots? Regardless of how they are placed are edible. And there was talk in the forums before hand that people were even going to scan the background of the pics for edibles.
And to say its an "American" thing? I'm not sure about the other continents but I can safely say most people in North America consider carrots to be edible (me being a Canadian). Perhaps representative from other continents can validate my theory that carrots are considered edible in other parts of the world?
:)
