Ok guys, let the WPL begin. I've just finished editing my Personification 2 photo and I have a good feeling about it.

| 5.56 for me... =P Better enter "good" or "bad", but with such vague challenge topics, I imagine the voters will tend to score "bad"-ly. |

| 5.3 for me. but I thought it would do worse. the idea was good but exectution was bad so I entered it anyway just in case. I think I have a good idea for "bad". but who knows? :P |

hmmmmm ... personification not doin that well ... its an absolute stunner of an image, but it seems that i overlooked one very important dpc requirement .. i'm planning on getting a blue ribbon for my 'bad' entry, so we'll use that score for the team ... lol ..
the bits about a stunning image and the blue ribbon are my dodgey attemps at humour ..
this is personifications sad story ...

there are currently challenges that have submission deadlines on the 6th and the 11th ... then there's the ones being voted on now, where the voting finishes on either the 6th, 7th or 11th ... i'm finding it a bit confusing as to which challenges are grouped together for the teams .. is there somewhere i can look, or could someone tell me ...
i was assuming that the personification and bad challenges would be together in the same week for WPL, but i may be wrong ...

Personification Member challenge
and
Good/Bad exclusive challenges
Your highest of these 2 will count for week 1.

Same thing for week 2 ... except for the obvius fact that the challenges will be new ;P |

my "bad" is doing bad...5.25, with 0 comments. hm....I had no idea it would do so bad. oh well.
but my Free Study is at a 6.2! Too bad it doesn't count |

Speaking of cold, I'm just catching one... =(
I was also unable to enter good or bad, so I'm stuck with Personification at 5.67. Looks like this round will not be so impressive.
We'll have to turn it up this next week. =) |

bad ... 5.2676 ... it started out ok, around 6.0000 .... i actually thought this was my best one to date .. i just dont seem to get it ... only one comment which just said '10' ... for either a very low or a very high score it is nice to hear why ...
my computer has been stuffing up a lot and its gone away to be upgraded .. was low on virtual memory a lot of the time, freezing and just shutting down a lot for no apparent reason at really bad times, telling me my graphics card/driver is shot, getting very very slow .. etc etc ... also images that looked sharp, clear, bright and colourful on my computer looked faded and washed out on two other computers that i was able to check on ... i'm on my daughter's computer putting this post in, but cant actually do any processing or downloading of my photos till mine comes back ... i'm hoping today, but it may not happen ...
i'm feeling a bit low and also feel like apologising for pushing to get on your team when my scores suck ... you'll really be celebrating when alice gets back ......
CONGRATULATIONS GEORGE ON YOUR AMAZING PHOTOGRAPH FRUIT FIESTA ... FANTASTIC SCORE AND FANTASTIC SHOT .....

Ahh, Roz, no need to worry. I've only got three above 6, and I'm not going to get another this week! In fact, I think I only posted one shot above 6 last season! Anyway, it's all in good fun.
As far as the colors being off on your machine, it's always a good idea to check them against another. Montiors just vary a lot (my laptop is very dull, while my free-standing LCD does very well).
We'll all do better next week! ;)
Hey, congrats Stefan as well - I think his shot in DOF was 17th. And that Best of 2006 was fabulous! |

thank you jeff for your words of encouragement ... you really lifted my day ...
and stefan .. congratulations on a wonderful entry in shallow DOF ... macro is one of my favourite types of photography, and i've been considering getting the same lens that you use because your 'eyes of the beholder' and 'dance of passion' are two of my favourite macros in dpc ... any advise re macro lens's for canon 400D would be greatly appreciated .. |

About macro lense: I've tried several and the Sigma 150 is in my opinion in a class of it's own - and far better than any of Canon's. Only drawback is that it's rather heavy. |
