Karma (said with TONS of kidding) I think I'd change your screen name too...it makes me think of something Bear_Music's dog creates after eatting too much Mexican food. :)

Didn't have anything to do with that shakalaka caca guy did it? |
hmmm...shakalaka_kaka doesn't show up in anyone's profile. i wonder if we should make the "old usernames show up in profiles" thing retroactive? |

Doh! Well, if I have my way, I will be myself instead of a character. Karmabreeze is fine for the livejournal, but not so cool for a wish-it-was-serious photographer. I'd like to be able to point people to my profile and not cringe at the possibility that I'll have to explain my quasi-hippie username to a gallery owner or a client. I wanted the new name when I first joined, but it was taken. Luckily for me, it meets both the zero activity and two years completely inactive requirements deemed necessary to boot someone else out of a username :-)

I've been waiting for Ben to be freed for years, but someone requested it when we were discussing the changes to our policy, and *poof*! It was gone! :P

You should try explaining the "quasi hippy" name when Karma is your real name. :) |

Oh, that's easy enough. Your parents gave it to you. Nuff said.
I like what my "karmabreeze" means to me, but when trying to be taken seriously and the client/gallery knows it's not my real name, I just cringe. The story is long and personal and not fit for the projection of that sort of professional image.
I also admit that being called Karma in the forums gets weird to me, since you really are Karma and I feel like I'm somehow treading on your territory. It's not pervasive or anything, but still just a teensy bit weird to me to see it.

Did you enter a self-portrait as "Good Karma" or "Bad Karma"? ; ) |

So this 24 hour waiting period thing means you have to stay drunk for over 24 hours straight to change your username on a fandango. Then when you finally sober up and realize what you've done, you're stuck for six months. I like it.

In all seriousness, whilst I totally understand people asking for a name change once, to switch from a username they plugged in without really thinking about it when registering but now want to change to either their real name, their nickname or something that describes/ fits them better I find it really, really annoying when members flit from one daft name to another in the name of entertainment and silliness. Whilst those who read every last thread in the forums may be able to keep up, I certainly can't, and I do read a high number of threads. And it's frustrating not to know who I'm reading/ speaking to when I see an unrecognised name that actually belongs to a long-standing member with many, many posts behind them.
Very pleased that previous names are at least going to be listed in users' profiles and personally would be very pleased if that was backdated to cover at least the last 3 months, longer if records exist.
