I grew up way out in the country and what comes to my mind would be
Animals, barns very large veg gardens{not my backyard gardens}
Someone canning veg, canner, mason jars. tractors,men plowing or working in fields.
I don't know how I can come up with that since I live at the edge of city limits. Just a thought. Good luck everyone.

This one will surely be a challenge, considering there really isn't much "country life" on a Hawaiian island. :P
But I'll give it a shot. |

Does a sugar cane plantation count? Or are there any of those left?

What about portraits of people in rural clothes? Or will that score low? |

They actually DO have a few plantations out here.. and some rural life.. with animals even. I might have to be a little creative though. We'll see. |

"Lets not get into country = rural v. country = Southern US w/ cowboys and Dixie Chicks singing country music. I am sure a few threads like that will pop up as soon as the voting starts."
Well now I happen to live in the South( Alabama) and we don't have cowboys here. No Dixie Chicks either unless they are on tour. We have beautiful rural areas just like many other places. And what the heck is wrong with flowers.
Hahahaha

i'm having a little trouble with the exact meaning of this challenge. I'm thinking more along the lines of country meaning anything that isn't urban or suburban. I'm not talking rural in terms of farms, etc., but more along the lines of small towns. I'm also wondering if "life" means that we are supposed to show people doing something, or if a picture of a a field or run down house will do. I'm not really sure. Rural communities are different in other countries, and even in different parts of the united states. The only "rural" areas I can get to out here are actually along the coast. There are farms and horses and all that good stuff but at first glance people will see it and think it isn't rural at all. Believe me it is. Would a picture of a country road in the mountains suffice, for instance? |

NB is Jacko's country Pedro. As for the fish, we aren't allowed to catch them anymore. It's been in the news recently how the Feds shut down the East Coast fishery. And I wouldn't dare enter a photo of a typical rural east coast scene, it would be too easy to identify me......lol. I think I may be persona non grata at the moment....me and my big mouth. C'est la vie.

Leave it to the Newf to upset the ranks. ah well - pretty forgiving lot here. I think you'll be ok soon. a few lashes with a wet noodle and a day or two in isolation should teach you.
take care,
Pedro

That's cute.
At last, dpc and I are on the same wavelength. I spent the weekend in the country and was glad I did b/c it was very hot in town. It was a coincidence - I hadn't taken time to read what the challenge was before I left. |
