Might as well start it here to save any of the SC moving it.

Tom Cruise hailed as 'Christ' of Scientology

No idea about the 'beliefs' [I don't have enough money] of scientology so would this be the first or second coming for them ? Is he part of Xenu or separate ?

Lets see if he performs any miracles. Like walking on water, changing water to wine, befriending someone named Lazurus and raising him from the dead. Lets see if he holds a Last Supper, is curcified, buried and resurected. Then perhaps we will see some similarity to Christ.

Until then he is just another charismatic personality who has sheep in the flock. Of which the world has seen many.

Maybe he just needs to wait for this global warming thing to start really making hay so when a super super storm comes by he can part the sea and such. :P

President Lyndon Johnson once said that if he walked on water across the Potomac River, the next day the headlines would read "President Can't Swim."

A source close to the actor is quoted by Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: "Tom has been told he is Scientology's Christ-like figure. Just like Christ, he has been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right, just like Jesus."

I found this sentence a little odd. Maybe it's just the way I'm reading it, but if Jesus is/was right doesn't that make the whole Scientology thing wrong? (At least what I understand of their beliefs.)

Sheep in the flock - like that one!

We all knew this from South Park, I presume, but just to underline the ridiculousness of it all, remember that...

...The religion's founder, American science fiction writer L Ron Hubbard, claimed that extra terrestrial beings were sent to planet Earth by intergalactic ruler Xenu, who then blew up the aliens with hydrogen bombs in a volcano.

This is the basis for a bona-fide "religion". Good grief.
