It may or may not mention it in the manual, but a 580EX set to +3 EV is very hot when it fires and should not be held close to facial hair or probably any object, living or otherwise. If pain or thought of ruining your flash isn't enough, the smell should be enough to deter you.

Remember, Knowing Is Half the Battle.

Haha, I was thinking about entering the entrance challenge and I thought it'd make a cool 'glow' in my mouth if I held a flash on either cheek...needless to say the only thing that ended up glowing was my week-and-a-half-stubble. I decided to enter something in Minimalism instead.

And yes nova, luckily I found out before I tried to shoot something for the nude challenge ;)

Also, if you fire it too many times in quick succession, you'll melt the Fresnel lens on the front of the flash. Quite pricey to replace too.
