After 20 votes and ZERo comments (c'mon people, comments!) i have the lowest starting point of the photo on this site that i have ever seen. :) At this rate, i'll be in the 3's in no time, as expected!!!! I just wish people would leave more comments, whether they gave me a low score because it disgusts them (i'll take that as a compliment) or whether they don't understand it, or whether they don't like, etc.

I'm getting there, I'm getting there! :) I'm voting tonight, then tomorrow I'll go through and start my commenting. I was able to comment on all but 44 of the photos last week, so I should get to all of them this week. Oh good...my kid is ready for bed now. I'll start my commenting tomorrow...promise. :)

I don't know what to think, I have 7 comments so far, all good, and I'm TANKING. I know the pics not pretty, it's not supposed to be. Ahhhhhh!!!!!!

Update: make that 8, last one not so nice, apparantly this person was offended and gave me a 1. Sin is not pretty people.

Finally some good notes and some hated notes :-)

I just love it when the subject offends someone and all they can say was that you don't know anything about the XXXXX event in history. Then they say the "effect" i created wasn't real - i hope not, becuase it wasn't meant to be "real" :) Looks like it's effective image if it pisses that person off so much. Besides, it wasn't the image's purpose to gross people out, it was the underlying message which you have to look for. The title doesn't tell anything and they assume it meant everything :)

(of course the person didn't leave their names so i can at least clarify it, but they're just wimpy and i'll find out next week who the weasels are :))

I really wanted to vote on this one, but probably will not, because I am not going to do it at work, and it takes too long at home.

BTW: Here was my idea that I was too lazy to shoot.

A cardboard box, sealed for shipment, out in the middle of the desert, title: "What's in the Box?"

Does anybody get it?

See, this pop-culture-movie-hollywood crap that has been infesting the societal needs.... :) well, if you simply drop the box like that no one would get it unless they have seen the movie.

That is one of the reasons I did not do it, but I have the perfect desert area for it. I really do not like copying other art either, but I just love that line "What's in the box?!?!?"

I'm getting alot of comments and people are saying they don't understand what my sin is. I think my picture takes on at least 3 or maby 4 sins.

I think it would be great if we could leave a comment with our picture so people can understand.

I just want to say that I got my first ever really stupid comment. "I don't get it". They didn't get my photo! LOL...my other 15 comments say how powerful the message is, and this person doesn't get it. Well...oh well. 15-1. LOL Odds are in my favor. I'm still smiling!

3 = didn't like effect
5 = liked effect
1 = "beautiful picture"

this sampling would indicate slightly above average scoring, but actual scoring reflects opposite :(

ps only 2 mention the sin, of which 1 got it wrong (maybe that's the more revealing sampling)

There was a thread with a link to a site that gave excelent descriptions. Do you remember what thread that was in, and I will repost the link to the site, just as a reminder.

Here's my score:

1 - Totally offended. Think i have no business making a comment about xxxx (can't tell you or i'll give it away). He/she said I shouldn't do that for my own "sick entertainment" :) Damn, he/she must have understood the photo, so that is a plus!!!!
4-5 like it a lot, some offered some good suggestions
1-2 said "Don't get it"
1 said "Mysterious" :)
1 said "I am not sure what it is but give me a minute to figure out" which i appreciate because the meaning isn't direct and he/she will figure out before giving me the final grade. That's fine.

Well, my next challenge would be a creative one but won't insult anyone :) I may go back to the Sin topic later if it fits the challenge. Wouldn't that be fun? Let's all complete a 7 series sin submission using each challenge. I mean, the next challenge is about LIGHTING on an object/objects, so it could potentially be ANYTHING, just have to use interesting light.

Must be the damn religious nuts that hate my photo... .oh well.... can't please everyone. Between the "factions" on here, the ARTSY types, the CUTE AND CUDDLY types, and the RELIGIOUS/CONSERVATIVE/NARROW MINDED types, i really can't please them all. Maybe they should have a challenge called "SUBMIT THE MOST DEVOID OF EMOTIONAL FEELING PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE" :)

At least I didn't go for my ORIGINAL idea --- I was going to get a rifle and pour a bloody liquid out of the barrel and let it drip... then in background littered with some religious text (Bible, Quoran...) and symbols like crosses as a show for religious wraith :) but i couldn't figure out whta liquid to use that is safe and won't stain the barrel and due to the freaking IDIOT IN MARYLAND/VA in recent events, i just couldn't do that right now because as much as i enjoy pushing buttons this wouldn't be appropriate at this time, so i found a 'lesser offensive' subject and still get nailed :)

we all know we have a stickler, hair splitting voting constituency on this site .. it's a well established fact :) .. anyone who has been here a while and doenst know this, needs to be pinched !

every week, the decision to make is 'play to game and do well' or 'take a risk and likely do worse but maybe do well and also feel 'artistically validated' (or something)'?

but if you take a risk and don't do well, and you've also been here a while, you shouldn't be surprised :)

Don't worry, Journey, it will be very artistic :) I'll probably get rated down for other reasons, probably geta few DQ calls for using photoshop to edit, but it's really not. I spent 3 hours tonight in a goddamn dark room :) (My bedroom_) Now I am like Gordon, a studio weasel... and i sort of like it! :) (no offense Gordon, but it is sort of fun for a while) If my neighbor looked up in my room they'll probably think some crazy f--ker is up there with some weird ass lights, probably a psychopath or something. My eyes are sooo dizzy right now.

I don't nkow if i can hold off putting up one of the shots i took for another art gallery though, it looks pretty decent, gonna have to control the urge cuz i don't want my idea repeated on here.

lol. I know the feeling. I have been experimenting with several light sources and I just hope I won't burn the house down this week. I created a blazing fire and the leather ottoman moved very near the fire to put my "subject" on just about melted. The whole place stinks of burning and it is hotter than hell. The dog freaked out from the madness.

I am now out of suitable light sources so tomorrow I'll hop to Home D for some 500W work lights.
