No kidding. Here in UK we have had some good gusty wind, and that was just me! My wife, who works at the same place as I do, had been working in one of the flower borders in the walled garden in the morning. We stopped for lunch and because of the high winds, stopped in the tearoom for a bit longer dinner break. One of the maintenance guys came in at about 3pm and told us that the wall had blown down, about a hundred foot long section...right where she had been working. There is a good side and a flip side. She wasn't there, so was not hurt. Flip side, she wouldn't have had to worry about being fat, just being flat!! |

Holy crap! 21 comments? I have a paltry 4 comments. I am currently at 5.5 and I thought this was one of the best shots I have ever taken. Goes to show what I know. |

My shot for this contest was risk-free. I wouldn't be at all surprised if yours is decidedly more creative (and probably artistic to boot)! Edit to add, Bob, my Match score is at 4.39 with three highly lousy comments :-)

My Match entry keeps falling. Down from 6.6xx. Still, with over 100 votes it should stay in the 6's--my first in a looooong time! Happy with my 2 favorites and scores. I am not planning on entering Wildlife, although it could happen. Haven't worked on Entry or Exit yet but hope to get something.

I just got power to our shop, we have been out 6 days. We still have no power to our house and no heat, or water, we are staying at my dance studio that has gas heat. We have 36 trucks from New York, and 52 from KS in to get the power up. Today we got the town water on. Both nurseing homes are with out power. We are to get another storm on Sunday 4-8" of snow on top of the ice. I may be off line agin for awhile. CB

Chris, glad to hear from you. We were without power for 4 days, and that was too long. We did have water though, This has been horrible (but I have gotten a lot of good photos.) Griz was asking about you, he was withouth power for awhile, and doesn't have internet yet. We didn't get any news for a few days, but I know it was worse north of 44. Hope you get power soon, and I really hope they are wrong about the storm on Sunday! |

Because I'm a new member of Team suck I will now try to vote on all challenges and leave comments. I have noticed that people seem to know who other peoples pictures are in the challenges. Is that because they have been a round long enough to recognize the persons style? Also how do I find out who the team members are so that I can look for them on my pictures when they have made comments? Also one last question on my profile page it says registered and the date that I registered and under that it says membership ends and then the date a year from now. I don't notice that on other ones. Any clues on that? |

Nope, not yet. Only team member so far is Melethia. And what a good comment it was. She understood exactly why I think the photo is special. |

Oops posted the same reply twice. Hmmm??? Well, I'll use this space to report that someone must have hated my Match entry, because it took a nose dive. But it's clawing its way back up. Now at 6.4954. Not complaining, mind you, just reporting.

We don't know who we are until AFTER the challenge is over. To look at who is on Team Suck, go to the very first post on this thread. I just updated it with quiet observation's latest results.

Telling us the title of your entry is wrist-slapping territory.
I had to read it with my eyes closed and then say fifty hail Marys.
:)
In addition to which I now have egg on my face, having checked out your profile and seen that the photo in question isn't an entry at all.
Sorry about that - just a little peripheral sucking.

Brookied I've been looking at your profile, and I notice you have some very aggressive goals! An average of >6.5 and all those ribbons??? Are you sure you have the right attitude for Team Suck? ;-P Good luck with them. |

I figure I'll probably give out a bunch of 10s and a whole slew of 9s when all is said and done. It is, after all, a Best of. Best scores are called for. I'm probably not going to have any 4s, either.
I also figure at this point, there are about 600 people who no longer are worried about their score, 25 who think they have a very good shot at a top 10 and are wearing out their update button, and 75 (that could be high) who have a new personal best or at least a new entry on their top row.
In addition, I can't sleep. Bah.
Hang in there, Chris. Sounds like things are a mess! Hope you're at least staying warm! |

If you have a question about your membership date, I would make an administrative inquiry at: Help Contact Us Administrative Inquiry
On your own profile you see the membership end date; if you go to someone else's profile you don't.
This might be a new change?

I've given out 32 tens!!! My 9's are pages long. Relative is relative... What Deb said!!! My lowest score given was a 5. These are the Best of after all. That said, I'm a bit disappointed with my score. I was sure I would finally achieve the much sought after but elusive 6.
And Chris, glad you're OK!

Ouch, I just got the comment "low quality" on my Match entry. But we all know what happens when we take artistic risks, right? Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't. I still quite like the photo, but won't be trying to sell it anytime soon LOL :-)
BTW, juliboc how is your photography seminar going? Are you going to share some of the great tips you pick up there? (Please?) |

I just have to give you a bad time like we've given Jeb a bad time for winning that ribbon. Actually, I really like my BO shot. I just think that relatively speaking, it's not as good as many of the others. |

I'm very upset. After my wildlife shoot on Monday, I uploaded my photos, chose my fave, did a little photoshop magic, and entered it. I was just flipping through those files, and happened to notice in the Exif data that it shows all of those photos originating on January 14, a day before the photos were actually taken. This is the second time I've reset the date on my camera, and the second time it has shifted (the first time was long before I joined DPC, and was only a minor irritant.) This time it means I probably will have to pull my photo from the challenge. I sent an e-mail to the site council (thank goodness I noticed before the voting started), but am really bummed about it, especially since it was my birthday treat to myself to go on that shoot. I guess I'm going to have to check my camera settings every time I shoot, since there seems to be a bug in there. |

UGH! :-(
Maybe you could do something like have a special portfolio section for some photos from the shoot? That way there will still be something a bit tangible for you to see related to it?
Really sorry to hear that happened... yuck. |
