| I get my inks and many papers from Atlex. I also use a cartridge resetter for my Epson printers, which gives approx 30% more prints per cart. |

| I like going to Staples - take your empty cartridge & you get $3 credit towards the next one... I save nearly $20 every time I refill the printer. |

There's a sign in front of Walgreens saying refilling there is up to 50% cheaper than new ones. Haven't had to refill yet, but will let you know.

I live near a Staples so I may try that. I always forget that there's places that take the empties back. I've never had a printer last longer than an ink cartridge, heh. I usually find it cheaper to just go buy another printer! |

Hi All,
Printer ink refills are very bad, I work for Brother International in Ireland and this is the single biggest issue we have with clogged printer heads etc...
Plus if you buy 3rd party refills or inks you will void the warranty if a fault developes!
Always use original inks,,,, you have been warned..LOL

Be sure you know what you're doing when refilling with 3rd party inks. Many of them could not remotely be called archival. It would be a shame to have your images fade out or color shift in a year or two, particularly if it was an image you sold or gave as a gift.
Personally, I never cut corners on paper or inks, even though I think they are tremendously overpriced.

i also think be very very careful with 3rd party inks. I had to do a rush job recently and couldnt find my ink anywhere and resorted to using a 3rd party one. The colour was off, they are a pain to put in the printer (had to take the chip off the originals and put onto the cheaper ones, so the printer could recognize them). I got ink everywhere. I had to keep hitting the resume button on the printer so it would print the stupid things.
They didnt last longer actually shorter, and yes they were $10 cheaper for each ink but I wont be doing that again.

I buy my inks and paper from ItSupplies.com They have good prices and are super fast on shipping!
Edited to say that you don't buy third party inks from them - b rand name just cheaper than the stores around here.

It looks like they charge about $1.00 more per cartridge for both my Epson printers (1270 and R2400) than Atlex. They are about the same price for paper. The free shipping for orders over $75 might be a factor to consider though. |

I just use my printer for "throw away" pictures--you bring them into the office, etc, show them around and toss them. Anything serious goes out to Costco, or MPIX. I find that aftermarket inks give ok color (very close to OEM ink) but fade quickly.
I have a Canon printer (two of them actually) that have inktanks separate from the printhead, so I just buy the cheapest inktanks I can find. This saves the mess of drilling a hole and refilling.
My printhead has clogged once. I fixed it by taking an empty cartridge, filling it with Windex (a glass cleaner) and running a couple of cleaning cycles. I found that one individual aftermarket inktank clogged the printhead immediately, so I had to throw that one out and use a new one (same brand, must have been a bad inktank). I think I've saved a lot more than the cost of a new printer by using aftermarket ink.

My wife and I use and love Print Pal. She has used them for a long time (cause she stole my printer) and just recently when I got my own printer I started using them too. I haven't had any trouble with the inks for the print heads and the quality appears to be perfect to me...plus they are a lot cheaper.
good luck |
