I just purchased a Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro for Nikon this afternoon. I've shot for about 20 minutes with it and I absolutely love it. I mean I really like my 50 mm prime lens but the Sigma? Wow... I love it. Is that so wrong?

If it is wrong, them I'm doomed too. I'm in love with my new 30D...and my Tammy 28-75...and especially my new Tokina 12-24...

Oh well, it could be worse. It could be something really expensive, like cars or something.

So wrong...so wrong.

In the immortal word of Renfield in Dracula: Dead and Loving it

WRONG ME!
WRONG ME!
WRONG ME!

Lol

That makes me laugh everytime.

They're all roomies... no secrets between them. I'm doomed. ;-)

I've slept with my 500mm...

No - there is no love MORE natural!

I remember the first night I got my Tamron 28-75mm - I overheard my husband saying on the phone to a friend that it looked like he'd be sleeping in the spare room that night - his side of the bed was reserved for my lens - GRIN!

I HEAR YOU! Love without reservation - you are NORMAL!

It's ok to love a lens.

Wear protection however. You don't want to get into a life time of trouble.

In my best Luther Ingram voice:

If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right
If being right means being without you
I'd rather live a wrong doing life
My mama and daddy say it's a shame
It's a downright disgrace
Long as I can mount you on my cam
I don't care what my people say

My friends tell me there's no future
In loving a piece of glass
If I can't shoot you when I want to
I'll shoot you when I can
If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right
If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right

Am I wrong to fall so deeply in love with zoom
Knowing I got a prime and two little fisheyes
Depending on me too
And am I wrong to hunger
for the smoothness of your focus
knowing I got more glass at home
that pleases me just as much
If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right
If loving you is wrong I don't wanna be right

That is just wrong, for punishment you should send it to me so it can get a checkup and some counseling.

MattO

Edit to add, the wildlife challenge is currently going on, so you better send it overnite with insurance.

If it gives birth to an "L" lens I'll consider adopting.

its nto a bad lens, not the sharpest needle in the hay stack but it gets the job done.
cant wait until i upgrade to the Canon 70-200/4IS L

I was a Nikonian at the time, but the answer was still no then too....

And Noisemaker, the non-IS is pretty sweet too.

Clearly you haven't played with a 70-200 f/2.8 L or 100-400 L. ;-)

You know what my kids would say,

"Citadel and the Sigma,
sitting in a tree,

At least doing it that way won't get you pregnant...

i would either get the f/4IS or the f/2.8.... the 2.8 you get faster glass but the f/4IS you get a smaller lens which is useful for traveling butyou get the 4 stop stabilizer whichowuld be fantastic

Got it right this time:
(about the comment of loving more than one lens)

Torn between two lovers, feelin' like a fool
Lovin' both of you is breakin' all the rules
Torn between two lovers, feelin' like a fool
Lovin' you both is breakin' all the rules

You mustn't think you've failed me
Just because there's someone else
You were the first real love I ever had
And all the things I ever said
I swear they still are true
For no one else can have the part of me I gave to you

I just ordered the new sigma 50-150 f/2.8 - and I'm in love with it and it hasn't even got here yet. Just the idea of a new lens is enough to make me a bit wobbly at the knees, so there is nothing wrong with a bit of lens lovin' if you ask me

Oooooh! This lens is soooooo good. I really wish I could post some shots but they might end up in the wildlife challenge. Suffice to say that the squirrels I was shooting were very photogenic and actually posed nicely for me. I took pictures of squirrels this fall and its like playing where's Waldo. With these pics? Nothing but grinning little squirrel and a bit of sky/trees.

Eventually the flames will die and you'll find yourself chasing glass again.
