Anyone else got this going on? It is happening in Explorer and FireFox. And I can't see any order to it, some members are grey, some members are blue, same for registered users. Has this already been brought up? I couldn't find a thread on it, or is it just me.

I noticed the same thing--using Safari. Thought maybe it was just me :-)

Who's Online

Mouse-over the names, you'll see. :)
01/14/2007 03:39:21 PM · #4
Already discussed. Blue is online, gray is offline.
01/14/2007 03:39:28 PM · #5
Yeah it was threaded the other day: online members in blue, offline members in gray. Mouse the names to see how long they been online :-)

Yeah, it's been brought up. The blue names are those that are online (hover over the name with your cursor to see how long) . The grays are offline.

Edit: Damn, I'm getting slow.

Thanks, this thread can be locked :), Nice new feature to see how long people have been online too.

Smart, pretty AND fast :-)

I must be the only one that thinks this feature is irritating. If you can mouse-over the names, why is the color change necessary? Grey on grey == bad.

Agreed. Also not very useful or accurate.
01/14/2007 06:05:55 PM · #15
I agree, the grey on grey is irritating to the eyes, the tones don't match well. The grey of the names is to soft, when I speedbrowse the names don't stand out anymore like they used to.

And why lock this thread? I was clueless about it as well until I stumbled on this one. Been away for a week, how the * should I know?

Why don't you suggest a colour then? Maybe green for online and red for offline? I don't know...but at least it is a suggestion.
01/14/2007 06:08:17 PM · #17
My suggestion is the option to be able to turn this feature off in my preferences.
I want all names in the same color, I'm not interested to see who is on- and offline. If I want to see that, there is already a good feature for that under the "community" menu.

Hear, hear. It's not even accurate half the time.

Yup...you got that right. It says I am here...but I am not!

I for one, like it. And even being legally blind don't have any trouble distinguishing the gray on gray.

And, just curious, how do you guys KNOW that it's not accurate?
01/14/2007 06:17:30 PM · #21
I always wanted the online list to be optional because my always seemed inaccurate but since it never was, I kind of like having it viewable in the forums. It's nice to see if the person I'm responding to is still online and likely to read my response in the near future.

Because I can leave the house for hours and come back and see that I've been "online" for 4 hours. My status seems to hang quite a bit.

Because I'll check my score in the morning, and then go off to breakfast or wherever for a few hours only to come back and find that I've been logged in all that time.

Sometimes it will do that auto time-out thing, but I guess it depends on whether I have anything else open that auto-refreshes the screen.

Anyway, the whole thing is bollocks, IMO. I can't understand how whether or not I'm online is relevant to anyone but myself.

Well, if I ask you a question in the forums and it shows you are not online, I know not to expect an answer from you for a while.

Edit: effed up the quote thingie.
