I can not get over how many fantastic photos are entered in this challenge. Man, when you ask for the BEST of DPC and let the members pick their best...wow, the results are outstanding...I think I will have to look at all the thumbnails to make sure I do not miss any of the 9s or 10s..I have been voting over a couple of days now anf have only covered 41% of the images.
Great work DPC Members!

I think this is one of the most fantastic challenges I have seen in a very long time. I did not personally enter this challenge; however, I am trying to vote on every image and to comment on at least 20%. I think everyone who entered should be extremely proud of their effort. I'm so glad we have several more days to vote. I'm really looking forward to checking out the rest. What inspiration!!

That's terrific! I'm not complaining. I just think it's weird with those stats (I have 26 comments, too) that I should be staring at my third lowest score since October. If there's any contest where I should be able to beat my average, it's a year-long free study! :-/

I think voting pattern is to blame here. I think most voters take the shots they feel are the best and compare the other entries to those shots. There are many really great entries, so mine for example that I'm sure would have scored better in a standard challenge, is falling into the mediocre scale here....

This has been a weird challenge to gauge. Typically I would have much more comments given my score and fav count but since this is a best of the year challenge I'd imagine there are some entries out there with 30 favs already and getting all the comments.

Well I hope I don't jinks myself by posting my score, but I'm really disappointed that nobody has made my photo a favorite like a lot of you have. :) However I'm pretty happy with my score. I guess I can get over it as long as my score continues to hang in there.

Finished voting finally... I was guessing that this challenge would raise my voting average. And it did. But not by as much as I had expected.
Current voting stats:
Votes Cast: 17,040 Ave. Vote Cast: 5.5173
For the Best of 2006 challenge:
Votes Cast: 707 Ave. Vote Cast: 6.0014
(including 3 10's, 6 9's, 31 8's, 168 7's and 299 6's)
New voting stats (assuming nobody gets DQ'd):
Votes Cast: 17,747 Ave. Vote Cast: 5.5366
So my average vote cast will jump a whoppin' 0.0193 points. Like I said, it's not as much as I expected. But then I hadn't looked at my total votes cast early on.

It really goes to show that the negative voters don't leave comments, cause I have really good ones, yet my scores have been falling for 24 hours. Oh well, it is my favorite pic that wasn't entered in a challenge, so I will just have to be happy with that.

But... what is considered a negative vote? All somebody has to do is vote a 5 and your current average vote will drop. People seldom leave comments on images that are voted a 5. ETA: Mine is currently higher, but it's been dropping during the past 24 hours. Since I'm above a 6, all someone has to do is vote a 6 and my image drops. And I only have 8 comments so far.
