**Emotional warning**

Hi Guys,

I'm going to start this post with a bit of an 'emotional' moment....

I have been overwhelmed by the kindness shown to me, by so many over recent days, weeks and months....Bear with me here.... After losing Damian so suddenly my life was flipped upside down. Since then I have struggled with allsorts of illnesses, culminating in my hospital stay over christmas...if you missed that you can check out THIS thread.

Along this 'bumpy road' I was lucky enough to find the best friend any person could wish for, Andi ( Ecce Signum). My rock. And my first reason for starting this thread, to say a BIG thank you to him for being the wonderful guy he is :o)

Another big thank you goes to all you guys here at DPC! It is a real blessing to be part of a community that cares so much for members like myself, you guys should all be proud of how well you pull together and how much support you offer to someone who is 'technically' a total stranger!

And now the 2nd reason for this post!!

In another thread Melethia made this suggestion....

Originally posted by Melethia:

And hey, that got me thinking (yeah, it happens once in a great while) - since you can't get out for a bit yet, is there anything you'd like the rest of us to shoot for you to see??

Now, I thought this sounded cool! I could go searching through the galleries here but I would love to see what the places you live in look like RIGHT NOW!

My favourite places in the World would be New York and anywhere with Penguins or the Aurora Borealis (Yeh, ok, so Iceland! lol). So any members living in or around these places who'd like take an image for me that would be cool.

Everyone in other parts of the world who'd like to cheer me up, if you have a spare five minutes pop outside with your camera and show me what its like to live where you are right now :o)

Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing lots of fantastic images!!

- Natalya :o)

Oooh I'd love to do this for you!
It's dark outside at the moment, and I'm not a big one for the cold and dark so... I literally just now went through my very first look through the shots I took in Marrakech, Morocco over Christmas. I'm going to go and pick one, process it up right now and upload it to share with you.
It'll be to flickr as I'm no longer a paying member here so no portfolio.

Edit:

OK I literally just picked two just now and converted them from RAW. No other processing so they aren't anything special but:

Cool idea . ..

My "world" isn't exotic or fancy, but I do have an awesome view (from my front porch). The first two were taken yesterday.

So . . .without further ado,

When you walk on our (mine and nards656) front deck, this is part of the view you see. (This is overlooking the town, Blue Ridge Mountains in the background).

Then, when you walk out on our back porch, this is what you see. You can see the sky, if you look straight up. :)

I suppose those, the area's Fall colors are one of the most striking features.

Hi Natalya, I would love to show you where I live, (actually just across the Pennines from you in exotic Merseyside!!) but being stupid I don't how to insert the pictures onto this message. I have just downloaded them into my portfolio but that's about as far as I have got.

Sorry to hear about your loss Talj.

As it stands right now... it looks a LOT different than normal. I live in Seattle, where we never see much of this funny white stuff.

(Taken about 5 min ago on my back deck)

Hey, I live in an ordinary place in UK.

I used to work here. This is the start of rebuilding the grandstand in 2004. Ascot Racecourse.

This is where I work now, John Lennon's house where he wrote and recorded 'Imagine'. The window shown in the video is the left hand one.

Pretty ordinary, but there you go!

Hi Jane,

If you view the image you want to include in the thread, right at the end it will say...

IMAGE_ID=

And then this will be followed by some numbers. If you copy those numbers then click post reply in the thread you want to post in. At the top of the reply box are some icons, click on this . This will bring up a box where you can paste the numbers from the image and click ok. Thats it! :o)

Hopet this makes sense :o)

Kavita, Karma, Ryan, Jane, Robert and Linda....FANTASTIC!! I have left each of you comments on your images, I am amazed at the response to this and even more amazed at how excited I was at viewing each of your pictures! Thank you!

Wow, quick work in checking out those shots - nice to see you're on flickr too! I've added you as a friend, hope that's OK?

I'll try and upload some London ones too... actually, there are a couple of London ones up, some which are fairly recent... let me just go find the links:

Here's the most recent one that might make you smile:
//www.flickr.com/photos/jacint_uk/300884724/
I organised a photog GTG for another forum recently, in London and we ended up in Covent Garden - as soon as I saw the merrygoround I had to have a go on it but no one else would join me - as soon as I came around to their side 9 flashes went off all at once!!!

//www.flickr.com/photos/kavey/213918292/
This one is a self portrait in Camden Market - a well known local attraction also on a Photogs GTG...

//www.flickr.com/photos/bibi-pov/142884492/
This one was taken in Kew Gardens on yet another GTG... it's a personal favourite of mine - you can see why?

How about some of my home town that I actually took (and am not in)?

//www.flickr.com/photos/kavey/90400171/in/set-72057594052992440/
Let's start with something recognisable - bet you know where this is!

//www.flickr.com/photos/kavey/213916682/in/set-72157594235012058/
This is one of the tunnels along the towpath (alongside the canal) in North London. It's the Regent's Canal and it's open to the public.

//www.flickr.com/photos/kavey/302252043/in/set-72157594384849372/
Here's the infamous British Museum - same place as I took one of my earliest entries but how can one get bored of that space?

//www.flickr.com/photos/ganders/101816604/
For a change of seen, not that it's local of course, here's a shot of me in Antarctica - I think this one was taken on a South Georgia beach...

PS Any chance you would agree to PM me your postal address? I promise I'm not a nutter - I've met a few folks from DPC so hopefully someone can vouch for me!

Fantastic, thankyou Natalya, here they are -
taken last winter (the only day of snow that we had!!)

This one includes some fab graffitti on the wall that I have to look at everyday, however it doesn't look so bad in this pic with all the snow.

We live in a three storey townhouse so we get a cracking view of the drunks staggering home from the pub from our top floor bedroom window!!!

I am so glad you helped me with that coz it was annoying me that I couldn't figure out how to post them. Cheers :-D

It's on the way Kavita! And I disagree with the above statement....we are all part nutter ;o)

Edit to add: I will get to posting comments on all the above shots as soon as I can! :o)

I can vouch for Kavey, although I have never met her. She is a complete psycho! She is a serial stalker, and a great photog. In fact, she is a very nice person...was that right...please put the knife away!!

talj, thank you for leaving a comment...you did not have to though. This thread is for you to enjoy and relax with. In reply to your comment, yes I have a spare room and you're more than welcome to come visit. The aurora is seen here often through the winter when we have lots of darkness. During the summer it never gets truly dark so we can't see them at all then.

Here you go, Natalya! I wanted to share my view with you, so to get the full effect I climbed up on the roof. Then I thought I might as well include myself :o) Finally a shot of my house from ground level... lots of love and care coming your way from VA, USA. ~Ray

Ha haaaa, Talj, Sodoff, touche!
It's true actually, I AM a bit of a nutter. Or so I'm constantly told...
But it's boring to be "normal" isn't it? BUT, I am harmless!

OK so, a la AA meeting stylee:

"My name is Kavey and I'm a nutter"
