Ouverture Facile Thread
So a lot of us have ignored the Ouverture Facile thread for days because we weren't playing... or we only looked as it involved our playing, but it has morphed. We have an influx of "no camera, no vote" registered member who have joined ONLY to cheat on the game because google lists our thread first as places to cheat.
I'm trying to make a stand... if it matters to you, our community and its purpose, please join me.

What exactly are we doing in this stand? |

Well we can either demand they learn photograhpy immediately or ask them if understand ISO....
Seriously, is it okay that our reputation as a premier photography forum be abused in this way? It isn't okay to me. If its just me that's offended, so be it.

I don't like that they have joined only for the one thread but am not really offended. What can we do? |

they're obviously too stupid to know that you don't have to join to read that thread. |

Not sure why they joined for that - they could read it without registering right (as a guest)?????? More likely is a bunch of users with Christmas presents looking for help :-) |

Personally, I don't see that it tarnishes our reputation any more than some of the threads that the members here create. It's one thread and every new person is potential revenue, either in the form of ads or new memberships. It happens with the song threads, too. As long as they aren't really causing problems, I see no real issue.
I find it more offensive when people join just to pimp out their own websites. |

Are you offended because they aren't using a photography forum to talk about photography? Because that seems to happen a lot here, even with our own established members....
What's good for the goose is good for the gander, no?

Seconded!
I don't really see a huge problem with one thread about an online game. |

Well, taking a quick look at that thread, it appears that it was started by a DPC member, and then continued on for nearly 15 pages by primarily DPC people. Seems only recently it kicked in with visitors.
I'm not familiar with the game involved, but will this fizzle out anytime in the near future? Is it something to be concerned about? Trying to take over that thread by posting all kinds of photography info is really going against the rules we have in place to keep threads civil (it did start out as a gaming thread). |

eh, I don't care. It has as much to do with photography as the word association thread and I jump in there once in awhile.

Ummm, is that what you call it?
It's really not befitting a premier photography forum though, isn't that sort of nonsense more appropriate for a site named something like Craptography?
