Ok, I got you here.
Just wanted to see if I am alone on this, or what.
Freedom of speach is all good and all that, but do we really need to keep 'reflushing the toilet' over threads on God, and Government?
These two 'taboo' topics just keep going on and on. There is no end, everyone has their own beleifs, and ideals on them.
It's just opening a can of worms, and not to mention the obvious....this is a site on photography. At the very least, this is an art community.
There are other sites you can forum your opinions that focus on such subjects. Youv'e got Google? Just Google your topic to find that forum.
Am I wrong?

I got quite over such pointless debates when I was working as a message board moderator for a teen-oriented cable network. They made me want to claw my eyes out, truly.

Agreed Horse, but what we see here also says something about the community D&L (and the SC, and the rest of us) have created here. Yes, it's a photography forum, but it's also such a comfortable community, and it feels SO much like home, to SO many people, that they feel drawn here when they want to talk about politics, or religion, or whatever.
It's just a matter of learning to balance things. |

Dang, Imma sucker. :)
I find turning off the rant threads really helps with doing away with all that stuff, among other silly things. It really doesn't belong here. Having those thread turned off makes this a much more enjoyable site.

Yeah, I get enough of that in the real world. I don't need it spilling onto me from the WWW. :)

i'm still new here, in terms of participating, but i don't think it's necessary for the forum to have venues to discuss such things.
it is a photography forum after all. if you want to discuss politics, there are other forums more suited to it. especially since religion and politics are the two most inflammatory subjects around.
nope, don't need it ... better off without it.
i would like some free sex though! :) but i'd settle for the beer!

I kinda know what you are getting at, but which bit of art or photography has nothing to do with religion, or politics, or sex, or life, or argument ?
Probably the not very interesting part.
We could have some interesting challenge themes along the lines of
creation
freedom of speech
global warming
