Strange smell of rotten eggs. The smell of a natural gas additive to give it a smell but no major leak. Can't find where its coming from but the area is wide spread covering portions of NJ and Lower Manhattan. News coverage on FoxNews and CNN. No reports of injury but have had several calls of difficulty breathing.

Reports are saying they don't know what it is, they don't think it's harmful, and no one has been transported to any hospitals. Just a big mystery be cause of the size of the area.

Gas-like odor worries workers across NYC

Could be the smelly additive "mercaptan" that is added to natural gas to give it an odor. Perhaps a shipping or manufacturing accident given the extent and area of the smell.

I think it's a dry run or rehearsal for something more ominous done by Al Qaeda...

I'm sorry to admit that I actually laughed out loud when I first heard this on the news. I mean, is it really newsworthy to find that New Jersey doesn't smell right?

Haha and all, but having lived in both places, and having an overly-sensitive nose, I can tell you Manhattan stinks much worse than Joisey.

At least Philadelphia wasn't the culprit. If you have ever drove between the airport and center city you know we can stink real bad.

Seems most likely that they were poisoned as part of some pest control gone slightly wrong. Everything back to (Texan) normal now.

Do they have Taco Bell's in NJ? That could explain a lot.
