The image formerly in 4th place has been disqualified for a datestamp violation, so congrats to our new 4th, 5th, and 10th placers. Just a reminder to all - please remember to check your camera's datestamp before you shoot for a challenge!

This should be reversed - I am contacting the admins. |

Sorry about the DQ, but it could have been worse had you finished one place higher! ;-) |

Oh wow that is too bad - it deserved the high placement. Still love it!

You know I think he actually took the pic a year ago and had the image stashed away knowing that a challenge like this was gonna come up sooner or later. ;)

I know the feeling. Perhaps when your AA batteries in you camera are low on power, that could mess up the date. Blame the batteries!
You could still make it into a 2007 Calendar photo. |

wow that's really rough, it's tough to believe that somebody would setup a AA battery shot a year before a challenge but within the same week. Honestly what are the odds of somebody taking a picture of a AA battery for art outside of this challenge haha. |

Very low, but the required proof for dates is strictly based on EXIF data, not probability. |

Ouch! That's such a hard way to get a dq...

Not trying to imply in any way that the 4th place shot was anything but an accident, but I took this shot on the 1st of December 2006. It isn't as good as the 4th place shot either, but some weird people shoot batteries outside of the challenge ;) and I know this DNMC as its a triple A.

Here's a quick silly question. If a shot is entered but disqualified for date/time could it be reentered in a different challenge where the date/time was legal for that challenge? Just curious. I figure metatate has other images he'd like to enter for the best of 2006 challenge. Anywho... |

No, that wouldn't be possible, because it'd still be in your profile as an DQd entry in that challenge.

Hm. What if you self-DQed and it wasn't in your profile? |

I think self DQ's still stay in your profile. Could be wrong though - I've never self-DQ'd as I heard it can lead to blindness. |

The short answer is, we've never allowed an entry to be reused once it's used in a challenge. You may, however, use a very similar exposure from the same shoot. Just as long as it is a different capture. |

That would usually also not be allowed to be resubmitted, since people will have seen the image during the voting phase before the image got withdrawn.

Does that extend to all of the bits of images cut up for expert challenges ? Can we use half of one shot in one and half in another, if there were parallel expert challenges ? I.e., is it the used pixels or the used source image that matters ? :)

Just a quick question. How about if the original was never verified, how would SC know it was another exposure?
Would SC ask for verification on both challenge entries?

If a photo was DQ'd in the woods where there was nobody to hear it, would it make a sound? |

if nobody heard it, he'd let us know. |

I went through my images and noticed that everything after 12-24 was 2005 ... I went ot the camera menu and the thing that had been last selected was the datte. This boggles my mind. Oh, well, my apologies to Manic and the site counsel because i was arguing the point but never even look at the YEAR until Kirbic pointed it out to me. I'm just glad we weren't still in the WPL! ... imagine how bad I'd fell if this lost it for us ;) |

I trust nobody.
Wait. I don't trust anybody.
Or I don't trust nobody.
Who the foop is anybody? And why does nobody care?
Oh, wait, I'm off topic. Gosh. They might have to lock an Admin Announcement. Naw, I'll probably just get in trouble :) |
