My computer immediately shuts off when running a virus or spyware scan when it come in contact with a specific file. The file is DUMP7c25e.temp or something very similar. The DUMP7 is accurate, but the c25e my be reversed (at work and not by my computer right now). I have tried to delete it, but teh computer abruptly shuts down and restarts. Other than switching to a mac, are there any ideas or suggestions regarding this file? Google yielded nothing for me.
Thanks,
Eric |

switch to Linux, or Vista :p
I assume you are unable to delete that file? Try deleting it from a DOS-prompt (cmd). If that fails, boot to a command prompt and try again. |

You might try running Symantec's online virus scanner. Many viruses will prevent you from running your computer's virus scanners.
I did a quick search for DUMP7 and couldn't find much out either. You might do what crayon said and try to delete it from DOS. You might try deleting it from Safe Mode too.
...and when all else fails, my favorite tech support phrase:
Nuke and Pave, baby!

| Submit the file to your anti-virus provider, and see what they say about it. |
