After all the hype and carry on about this movie, is it really worth seeing?
What did people here think of it, is it worth spending my hard-earned on and worth 2 hours of my life? |

I found it interesting, with quite a few good lines and pretty scenes. It didn't blow me away like the first did (but then, very few movies have blown me away like that).

The matrix reloaded is full of philosophical cliches and long fight scenes. You would not miss out if you didn't see the movie. Perhaps when it comes out on DVD. But not really worth going to the theaters for.
This new installment of the matrix doesn't bring any new insight.

I disagree, its films like this that you really have to see on the big screen. I think the kinda film you should get on DVD are slow paced romances or funny comedies, where the big screen and great sound doesnt add anything.

I saw the first one on Saturday night at a friend's house for the first time; he said he's seen it about ten times. I thought that one was great, so now we're gonna go see Reloaded sometime this week, hopefully. Only wish I had seen it before the challenge (which I opted out of) because I saw some really good shots I could have gotten by incorporating his LCD projector. Oh well.

Well if that's your mini-review, you could equally well apply that to the first one too...
It is really more of the same, though it does tend to rip up the original plot and leave you wondering if the things you thought you
knew from the first film are actually true. It was quite interesting
how they basically twisted everything from the original movie, while staying within the boundaries of the story/ original suspension of disbelief. It's an okay film, laden with as many cliches and ideas as X2, though at least X2 had the guts to not keep bringing people back to life.
Matrix Reloaded was a good flick, but neither of them are much more than just action films coated with some really superficial philosophy. Good fun if you like that sort of thing. |

It's not meant to be deep, everybody ought to know that. It's a shallow sci-fi movie with lot's of pretty cool action and special effects. Don't look to deeply into a shallow pool (now I sound Chinese). If you like cheap thrills, it's a fun ride - I loved it and can't wait for the third installment in November. |

don't go, todd... compare to the first one with it's depth and originality, the second one was a major disappointment... more of a martial arts flick... the success of the "serial" movies like these is often decided on the second installment - like the terminator, for example... i am definitely going to see the latest installment of the terminator when it's out in july, but i will wait with the third matrix...

I keep finding it strange in the various reviews etc that go on about how deep the first one was - it just rehashed a load of old ideas too.
The second one just pulls up different philosophical cliches and ups the 'god/ messiah' overtones a bit more - everything is bigger in the second one. The fights are longer, the sets are larger, the cast is bigger. |

in other words, the first matrix was a great movie, a new classic, a real cultural event... and the second one was not any of those things... don't go, todd.

Don't listen to severin, he's a silly math major, what would he know about philosophy.
Plus, he like X2 which was exactly as he described Matrix.

I loved the first Matrix - saw it 4 times. The second one was so-ooo dissapointing. It has completely lost the edge.

Well, I prefered the second one to the first one. It was more interesting, it brought more depth to the plot, and it makes me want to see the third.
I would recommend seeing it. This reminds me of the whole second movie in a series being the plot booster for the third movie. Like seen with the star wars movies, and other trilogies.

well, if I was todd, I'd really want to go with somebody so intent on telling you how bad it is. I mean, don't you wanna see just HOW BAD basia03 thought it was? |

Let me re-itterate on a few points. I believe the Matrix Reloaded is an art film brought to new heights. They have a very dry style of delivering jokes, the new characters are VERY interesting.
If you like dark humor, martial arts, and just art in general, you'll enjoy it all. The sets are artistic, bringing modern art, and minimalism, mixed with some supreme CGI.

I've seen the original about a dozen times and was really hyped for the second one.
The first time I saw it I was very disappointed, for a number of reasons given by others. Mostly I was just overhyped for it.
Then I saw it again the next day, and loved it. It does have a few significant flaws, with one scene that is perhaps unforgivable. The dialog also suffers a bit occasionally, but is mostly well written.
It's not as good as the first one, mostly because the uniqueness of the first one cannot be replicated in a sequel. However, it does continue to expand the incredible universe that the original created, and it does a good job of doing so, adding depth to the story and universe.
So I'd say see it, with reasonable expectations, an open mind, and an understanding that it is not going to be the same as the first one.

You know, I had to see it twice to really appreciate it too. It didn't help that the first time I was glued to the front of the theatre, cause it was too full, and had a crick in my neck and my back by the end. I was grumpy. THen we decided to see it again from further back and my hubby and I both enjoyed it even more. |

I'm still waiting for the plot. I think they are waiting till the 3rd movie to release the PLOT. I went with some die hard Matrix fans, and we all left shrugging our shoulders and scrunching up our foreheads in confusion. Cool fight scenes though. Just no plot.
However, one of my favorite characters from the HBO series OZ is in it, so at least that was a plus.
I also heard that Finding Nemo topped Matrix on the 'charts' it's first weekend out. Maybe we should have had a NeMo challenge instead of a Neo challenge. lol |

Sheesh! Ask a question and leave the room for a few huors and see what happens? I was going to go tonight but seeing as I have yet to shoot anything for the liquid challenge I think I'll do that instead. Perhaps tomorrow night I will see it..... though, judging from my 'sound' entry which was also shot last minute.... I would be better going to the movies! |

Go to a matinee. For 50cents more than you pay at Blockbuster, you get to see it on a big screen with great sound. Some of the fight scenes are too long, and the "explanation" at the end would be hard to follow for anyone not paying attention... It's still worth seeing. |

I'm with Gordon on this one. I really liked the first Matrix, not because of its deep philosophical meaning, but because it was packed full of amazing visual effects, had an interesting enough story line to pull everything together, and some great action scenes. In short, it was a visually stunning roller coaster.
The Matrix Reloaded is more of the same. The fight scenes, though brilliantly done, were a little over the top in my opinion. There is one scene in particular, which drags on and on and on and on ....
It is worth going to watch the movie just for the car chase scene though. That was brilliantly done. Like Gordon said, the plot takes an interesting turn, but there is still no brain surgery involved.
If you liked the Matrix a lot, go watch Reloaded. If not, don't bother.
