1. Explore, improve, and create

2. To produce images that I can look back on in the years to come and say, "I remember that." and smile.

3. Same reason everyone does.. for a small amount of recognition. We all, in some way, want to feel wanted.

1. What do you want to do with photography?

I have a need to share things that are close to me. Sometimes I feel that I see things differently than other people, so I want to share what I see, so they can see it too.
I also eventaully want it to be my profession.

2. What are your goals?

To get ribbons on this site, gain extensive photography knowledge, sell/share my work, but more than anything...I want to be remembered.

3. Why do you enter contests ?

To make sure that I am relating my work to other people, not only myself. See #2

A whole lot of people seem to be in it for the money or their place in history. So just the usual fame/ fortune goals ?

Not me.

*edit* I mean.. not that it really matters one way or the other. No goal is really any better or worse or right or wrong or whatever.

I don't think so. Are you interpreting people's desire to "share vision" or "share ideas" and the like with wanting fame? Speaking for myself, that's not the case. In my view, most visual artists (and I concede that not all, or perhaps even most, photographers consider what they do "art") are simply attempting to communicate somehow, usually with the initial gut reaction their stuff inspires. There were bound to be limitless expositions of this sentiment from people in answer to question one.

Fortune? Not likely. I doubt anyone is expressing a realistic expectation of raking in heaps of cash on what they do. After all, I would venture to say that 90% of members here are amateurs and hobbyists. Any expression of wanting to "cash in" on their hobby is purely tongue in cheek, I would think. After all, everyone wants to make money off what they love doing.

1. I want to SEE.
2. I'm waiting for the Aha. (Before digital the Aha would sometimes happen in my manual focus SLR viewfinder, but now rarely in EVF).
3. Feedback, recognition; but I also enjoy looking and trying to verbalize/find out what I like in a photo. (Others may not enjoy this).

What do you want to do with photography?
Enjoy myself.

2. What are your goals?
To create pictures instead of taking snapshots.

3. Why do you enter contests ?
To see how I rank against other photographers. It also keeps me photographically active. If I didn't, I wouldn't pick up my camera except to take snapshots of my family.
