So today I am at my sons school christmas program.
Camera around my neck, ready to shoot.

Next to me sits the local Doc's wife.
As she is talking to the person on the other side of her she pulls out a Canon DSLR with some kind of zoom lens that was not canon.

I think cool!!

I know her and was going to ask her how she liked the camera.
She never stopped talking to the lady on the other side of her long enough for me to ask though.

For a couple of seconds she looked though the lens, played with the buttons and then put the lens cover back on. She puts it back in the camera bag and pulls out a small point and shoot camera!!

I am now thinking "what the heck!" :)

I never did ask her about the camera after that.

The program was in the gym and I was all over taking photo's.

At one point when I was in my chair another parent comes up beside me to take a photo from the front row. She aims the camera and say's, I will never see her from here. She does not snap the photo and goes back to her chair a few rows behind me. I just about told her to walk up closer, but I did not.

People could see me walking all over taking photos in the gym.
I had no problem doing it and could really care less if anyone thought I should just sit in my chair, lol.. :)

Anyway that's how some of my day went and I will upload some photo's later so everyone can tell me what I could have done better. :)

I love this time of year as it seems day after day I have a good reason to take photo's.

I guess it's good to bring a spare camera just in case (for whatever reason). Maybe video mode .

Just shot my kid's school Christmas concert also. Luckily, the school has some halogen? spotlights for stage lighting (so Tungsten WB worked well). Threw a full CTO gell on the 580EX, used a 75-300 IS and a monopod, and was able to get all of what I wanted by standing in the back. 75mm was wide enough for the entire stage, 300mm got me close enough to individual groups.

The only problems I had were people standing in the aisles taking pictures and getting their heads in the way, and very occasionally having someone else use their flash when my shutter was open.

Noted more external flashes in use this year (judging by the brightness of the flash) In a few years, the school can eliminate the spotlights and rely on parent's flashguns :-)

Now I know why I prefer outdoor photography. They turned off all the gym lights and turned on a couple of 'groups' of 'spot lights' at the back of the gym. Looked like something from a military surplus store!

Anyhow... My daughter (8) "likes" the boy with the Santa beard on.... Grrrrr.

Maybe she forgot to put in her CF card, and didn't realize it until she tried to take a photo.

Could be, but thought I seen the flash going off and it was also only out for a very short time before it to got put away.

My guess is that it is her husbands camera and she was not sure about using it.
