So, the man has no idea what to get me for christmas. none. he thought of a lens, but couldn't find the one he thougth i wanted. he hates shopping, and says i'm impossible to shop for.
so, i said, 'just get me some software for the CS2'. i'm thinkg kubota sloppy borders but does anyone have something else they'd reccomend?
when i was shooting film, i used to fle out the negative carriers so i could full frame with the rebate showing, so everyone would know i printed full frame. sad, innit. but, i also really liked the finish the black border gave to the image.
so, is kubota the best , or are there others i don't know about?

| Personally I don't like a single one of those borders. |

I am having trouble understanding this sentence...can you make it more clear?
I looked at the borders on their page...I guess if that is a look you like/desire they are ok. But to me they look just like they are called - sloppy - and detracts from the image...at least the one they used for their examples. I couldn't see using one of them unless someone specifically requested that look.

xianart If you have Photoshop you can make many of those frames yourself with a little practice. Save the $. |

I think the kubota borders are great. Many of the b&w photographers in the darkroom that I go to are printing with borders like these from filed out carriers.
If you get this package, show us some examples. |

| If you wanted to buy some add-on's to CS then something like PhotoMatix, Nik Filters, Noise Ninja, or the likes would probably be more beneficial. There are lots of photoshop borders you can get online for free and they are fairly easy to create too. |

negative carriers are metal sandwich-like holders that carry negatives in an enlarger. if you want to print the full frame, you usually need to take a file to the frame, as they tend come from the factory with about a 95% crop. the filing was never as clean as one would like, so it always looked a little sloppy.
it's a hold-over from film printing, but i still like it...
