question for anyone who knows.
I posted a picture in my portfolio that has been getting quit a few hits, its only been up a couple days and is now approaching 400 views. What confuses me is that my profile views aren't increasing that fast. What other way are people able to find this pic without first going to my profile?
Also...please don't go looking for it just because i am inquiring right now as it will just add more views and confuse me even more. |

it wasn't uploaded recently enough to be coming up ion the "recently uploaded" page and hasn't been getting enough comments to keep it on top in the "recently commented" page either. |

I looked at the thumb in your portfolio list and I think I know which one you're talking about. I think I recall looking at it recently. Did you post the thumb in a thread recently? |

I've seen that pic recently as well. Seems to me someone posted it in one of those "best pics" threads. That would explain it. :o) |

I just went back and looked at my recent posts and found that I did link to an earlier version of this pic but that was before I posted the new edit. I've since removed the first one and never linked to the second.
do you know if there is a way to trace where the hits are coming from? |

No way a site user can do this. |

From ClubJuggle in a similar thread I recently started:
My interpretation of the Privacy Statement is that we cannot share that information. Google does, however, offer the ability to search for pages that link to a specific page (backlink searching). so you may have some luck tracing it down that way.
So long as the remote site links to the page that hosts the image, rather than deep-linking the image itself on their own page, they are operating within the terms of the Terms of Use. The fact that your image views were incrementing suggests that they were linking to the page, not the image, so all is good from that perspective.

this is a futile attemt anyway, just since i started this thread about 45 min ago, the view count has just about doubled.
Maybe actually this is the answer to my question. |
