I just got my SEVENTH blue ribbon with the 85mm 1.8 lens, come on people, why don´t more of you use it? Cheap and extremely good! I want some competition using it, am tired of hogging the results from this lens. I know Joey Lawrence just got one so if you wanna be cool like him, get one :)

| That's been on my wishlist for some time but have yet to buy it. Maybe you can sell yours so I can get that Larus mojo with it. :P |

Sure, how does 2000$ sound, you can get my ribbons along with it, I want to upgrade to the 1.2 version for the even bigger aperture possibilities :P |

That's legal in Canada.
Got any males around there?
I'd love the Pentax version of that lens.. the A* 85mm f/1.8 mmmmmm..
But it goes for $3500 on Ebay every blue moon... or something ridiculous like that. I'll have to stick with my 50mm f/1.7 for now

Oky doky, I´ll send her a day after her birthday, she´ll be well hung over and not really aware she´s on the way to the airport :) |

It's becoming my favourite lens too. Here's one I took of the Texas state capital building at the weekend with the 85mm 1.8. It's so sharp! Love that lens.

Am I the only one who thinks Gordon's OOF cityscape looks like a nude female torso in the thumb?

not so important public service announcement:
Larus shoots with a full frame sensor. Us lowly middle range dslr shooters with 1.5 or 1.6 crop sensors would need to use the 50mm 1.8 or 1.4 in order to achieve the same distance to subject as Canon 5D users.
Or if we all go out and buy the 85, he'll have to shoot 135 to be just like us
:) |

| I'd love one but i just can't justify the cost right now. Besides i have a super sharp copy of the 28-75 tamron and access to my friend's 135L :-D |

That only accounts for field of view.
Perspective is another story altogether. Sensor size does not affect perspective. So to really get the same affect as someone with a FF camera, we would need the 85mm lens and to be 1.3, 1.5 or 1.6 further away from the subject. |

I have thought about trading my 35 f/2, 50 f/1.4 and 85 f/1.8 for a 24-70 f/2.8L, but my fondness for the 85 f/1.8 has kept me from making the move. It's difficult to explain, but there is something special you get when shooting that lens.
