Most voters/commenters think my life photo sucks big time but I got the greatest kick out of the puzzled and confused comments.

Worry not, Susan, everyone thinks my photos have soft focus and they look sharp as a tack to me... so I suspect it may be my eyes that need to be checked. Or possibly I need an overall *checkup from the neck up* since I seem to be obsessed with this site and photography in general...even though I SUCK!

I chose the EOS-20D over the Nikon DSLR (just about one year ago now) because I liked the menu/toggle on the Canon for ease of use. I switch between color and b/w a lot, and also change white balance regularly. The Canon is easy and user-friendly for those options. What I've had trouble with is sensor dust, big time. However, I hiked and mountain biked all over Baja with it slung over my shoulder, so go figure. I also am not wild about my lens - it is the Tamron "imitation" and I don't think it is as sharp as it might be. My husband said Santa might bring me something real, though. Am excited, especially if lens turns out to be of macro variety.

I'm in Pet Portrait. I didn't get a chance to reshoot, so I'm predicting a 4.5. God, I suck! The one dirt comment I got said it wasn't dirty enough, but the focus was great! I've fallen to 4.9. Life is still hanging barely above a 5.

That's probably me, sorry - I'm being really mean about the dirt entries.

What were the features you wanted vs. price you were willing to pay?

I'm writing a list of things I want when I finally buy one, like good high ISO performance, rapid burst speed, etc.

Thanks!

I basically chose the D50 because of price. I compared it to the low end Cannon at the time and the price was about $500 less. The interesting thing is that in the old film days, I had a Cannon AE1.

Actually, I'm very happy with my D50 except for the sensor dust thing. I went to a local camera shop today and asked them about dust and they said that they charge $35.00 to swab the sensor and vacuum the camera. I told them that I use a little blower to clean it out and they told me that all I was doing was blowing the dust around. That made me wonder if you could purchase very small vacuum's for that purpose.

Sorry I got off track here. I love the D50.

I had a Canon film camera and when I found out I could use my lenses on the dslr, it was a no-brainer.

I have a pet portrait. I'm afraid that it's a mediocre nocommenter. We'll see.

Look at all those comments! Of course, most of them are along the lines of "WTF?"... hahahaha

lol! get used to that comment especially if you put more than five seconds of thought and creativity into your picture.

wow...

this entry keeps rising despite the obvious lack of any skill in the focus department.

I need to turn off my scores for the pet portrait - it will be hard to listen to snarls about my sweetie.

I am very happy with this. If the focus was a little better, I could probably get close to my first ever 6. I have never had a picture get 2 favorites before. I guess that's what a cute picture does for you.

Man, I SUCK! I've got 4.83 in both death and dirt! These are my lowest scores in quite some time - hope for a bit of a rebound in 'for sale'.

bmartuch Looking forward to seeing which photo is yours. I've commented on most of them. Will probably finish up shortly.

I think that's part of the reason I entered 'for sale' instead of pet portrait. Naturally, I think my two cats and dogs are the cutest animals on earth, and if others don't think so... yikes :-)

Ok, I have entered photos in Pet and Sky. I am very very excited about my Sky photo, *not* because I think it will score high, just because I took advantage of expert editing rules and I love it.

I think voters do appreciate thought and creativity, just applied in areas other than challenge interpretation.

Wow, I'm actually in a challenge!
Pet portrait and I predict a 4.5 or lower.

I don't have anything up for voting this week, and I'm hoping I'll get some inspiration for one of the ones to submit to now, because currently I have no ideas!
