I'll be only too happy to go with kitsch then. There's a wee bit of social realism in it, too. Here's the social realism I won't be using, probably just the sort of thing you were talking about, Svetlana:

Oh I love that! I thought of trying something similar but I found an even more socially realistic subject. I'm looking forward to sucking bigtime in this challenge :D

A question for fellow team suck members:
Does anyone else have a lot of trouble with sensor dust? It seems every time I change a lens, I have to get my little blower out and clean the sensor, otherwise it can be a mess. It doesn't seem like it should get that dirty that often.
Maybe that would have been a good chanllenge for dirt (a dirty sensor). |

I know what you mean. I went to Utah last month and tooks shots in Arches Nat park and I had a lot of trouble with Dust. A friend told me to clean off my camera before takeing off my lense, so i started blowing off my camera or whipping it down before changeing lenses and it seemed to help |

| That and change lenses as quickly as you can without jamming anything. I always find a place I can sit down, at least sorta, get the lens back cap loose, then have it ready to put in place as soon as I take the other one off. I still get sensor dust, though. I think it's just a fact of life for dSLRs. |

I don't have a dSLR, but I've read that there are some things you can do and some you can't.
Things you can do include holding the camera lens-down (so dust doesn't fall into it) and buying lenses that don't change external length upon zooming (so you don't get suction pulling air into the camera).
A thing you can't do is choose components that give off less dust, but I think more recent cameras are being built with them.a

Speaking of dSLRs, why did you folks pick the one you use? I see the Canon 350D, 20D, and 30D, the Nikon D50, D100, etc. on our team.
What were the features you wanted vs. price you were willing to pay?
I'm writing a list of things I want when I finally buy one, like good high ISO performance, rapid burst speed, etc.

I LOVE the high ISO performance on the 30D. Not nearly as good on the 350D by the way. May be better on the 400D but I don't know that for sure. I'm quite happy with the 30D. Initially went with Canon because, well, they had a good deal on the Rebel when I first when to a digital SLR. I'm sure Nikon is fine, too.
And now for a dilemma - I have what I consider an awesome Team Suck image for For Sale. I also have one that might actually score OK, though there's the possibility of a few DNMC scores, too. Mom likes option 2. What do I do? The Team Suck image will not score particularly well, I don't think. I suspect y'all might like it (and suspect Don will hate the one mom likes) but... Gah!!! Decisions... |

| Mine seemed like best price:performance at the time. It's still pretty good although obviously a generation old now. I picked it over others for handling, good feature set, and personal recommendation. |

Go with the one you like best. Or go for the score, if you think you can read the voters and that's what you want. |

| I actually like them both. One for it's unusualness, and one because, well, gosh, it's actually darn cute. I think I'll put them both in my workshop folder and see which looks best on the web. |

Put in the Team Suck one so that it's more pleasant for me to vote in the challenge. It's all about me! Speaking of me, my new strategy is to go ahead and put in the Suck-level photo (often that's my only option anyway) and then root for positive (or at least interesting) comments and favorites. I've been having a great time lately!

Ya know, there's no rule that an image that'll be liked by this group necessarily means a low average score. :)
I mean, interesting images can be shot in ways that are also attractive to the general voter.
