I was playing with a shot in lab color the other day - I have no idea what I'm doing with it, but I liked when I cut out a channel and would like to keep the photo that way. Problem is if I save it as jpeg it reverts to full color, and if I save as a tiff and reopen then try to save as jpeg, same deal. How do I get rid of a channel in lab color then keep it that way as a jpeg? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.

Bump. Still looking for a hint on this one.

maybe delete the channel, so you only have La or Lb or whatever, then convert it back to RGB (image->mode>RGB) and see if that keeps the shift you want ?

Either that or don't delete the channel, just set that one channel to all black (0) so that it is still there but has no effect. Guessing going in to the channels menu and selecting just that channel then editing it and deleting the contents might work.

Not at a computer with photoshop so just guessing here.

I think the convert back to RGB put the color back the way it was, but I'll try the "set the channel to black" think and see if that works. Thanks!
