WEEKLY CHALLENGE RESULTS
BLUE ============== Team Chasing Butterflies = 6.163433333333
RED =============== Team Entropy ============= 5.401166666666
YELLOW ============ The OOFers =============== 5.3232
Sacred Quadrangle = Team Novice ============== 5.292566666666
Iambic Pentameter = The Hoovers ============== 5.122166666666
BROWN ============= Team Minus =============== 5.028233333333
Well, well, it seems the butterflies will be the ones we are chasing now. Congratulations to silverfoxx on getting her top two scores this week, and her teammates lesgainous and Blue Moon each scored their Personal Second Best this week as well!
And finally, congratulations to bryantbus for the highest score this week. As her punishment for this act of non-suckiness, we ask that she comment on everyone else's entries (if this seems an overwhelming task, then please start from the lowest scoring team and work your way up until you get tired).
As always, feel free to let me know if my calculations don't seem right. It could happen.

Congratulations Team Chasing Butterflies!
To commemorate your arrival in team suck and the success you've had so soon, I will only enter pictures of my left foot for the next five challenges regardless of the challenge topics! These will be available with frames as a boxed gift set for the holidays. |

Oh, I forgot... as well as the left foot the reward for Team Chasing Butterflies is that they get to award an OOBIE and a YAPPIE to anyone they choose in the entire DPC community.
An OOBIE is an award for best Out-Of-the-Box photo.
A YAPPIE is an award for excellent or otherwise wonderful commenting.
The suggested procedure is to make a call for nominations from the general public and then use PMs to vote on which nominees to give the award to. If you have a tie, you can award more than one.
You can use these threads to call for nominees, if you want:
OOBIES:

YAPPIES:
//dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=492012

As to your query, JuliBoc, technically I cannot try to achieve goal #1, but I think I am a serious contender for it. The comments right now are half good and half bad. I'm loving it.

Started at 4.8, so I am moving up. I still like this shot, and it is one of my favorites no matter what the score ends up.
Free study is holding steady at 4.9 |

Blue Moon with a space between blue and moon probably doesn't know that she is a team member but why should we worry? Too close to being sorry. |

Fair warning, fellow Suckmates - Death has a couple of incredibly disturbing images - one in particular - if you happen to like animals. I would like to know the story behind that one in particular - as to whether or not someone should be hung by their thumbnails and dipped in acid, for instance. |

at least i'm sure this one isn't mine. i didn't actually go in for the whole shooting pictures of dead things...
i approached it from a more metaphoric perspective. too bad the focus sucks. |

aaah!:)
thank you so much dear Posthumous, Melethia, Sickdog, Quiet Observation, Bmartuch!
please, please, do not chase us! my free study sucks very nicely and so does my Bond photo. and the life entry is at 5.2 now :) so a score above 6.0 was just by accident!
a message to Blue_Moon: can you please answer me something? please please?:)
I didn't know about OOBIES and YAPPIES and it sounds great:) will post there now.

I just changed my preference to see my score and then changed it back. For me, this is an extraordinary score.

Don't forget to post a call for OOBIEs, too.
And though my score is only a 5.5 in Free Study, I'm considering it a success - I got my posthumous comment! ( Goodman and dahkota, too.)

Good! I was overdue. :) My Life entry has comments from Gordon, bood, and silverfoxx. Those are the good comments. hahahaha
I haven't been commenting as much as I'd like, but a new monitor is in the mail. That will help.

None of that has much to do with what YOU like, though. Do YOU like your shots? Do they make you happy?
Look at my trains entry. I thought (and still think) it looks pretty cool. It got a lousy score, though. Fair enough. People here don't vote highly for toys unless they're spectacular. ...
Finally, don't sweat the one comment you got about not using the same subject for two challenges. Lots of people go out shooting and come home with two challenge entries. I did, in fact, for perspective and postcard, and ended up with two of my highest scores.
...
So hang in there. Keep shooting, keep making yourself happy, and keep asking questions, both here and in other forums. |
Yep. I agree. I'm not fussed by that comment. Really although the concept was similar, these were two very different photos. Neither scored very well, but that's a combination of factors.
I do like my photos. The only photo I'm not that fond of is my PEAS shot. I may also start voting a bit more extremely. I think I've been tending to be very middle-of-the-road with my votes, but the best refelection of your opinion is granted by giving out lower or higher votes to the shots that you like and dislike. So I may be giving out a few more 8+ and maybe some 3s in future. |

Yes, Svetlana, yours was a very good comment, as was Don's. I've been very fortunate with comments in this one - I have 19 of 'em so far, and the folks that don't like have said so in a very positive way. I'll be nominating a few of those comments for Yappies, to show that you can not like a picture, and vote it low, and still leave a useful, non-offensive comment.
I also have two favs on this one. *Happy dance!* |

Chris (bryantbus), I just looked at your profile and noticed you live in Missouri. I live in Springfield. What city/town do you live in? (If you don't want to tell that's fine or you can PM me to keep it quiet.) |

Everything is back to normal. Falling like a rock. It feels so good to be back on my home turf.
I agree about photographing dead animals. That is just sick. I saw both of them and neither of them received a good score from me. |

by now, most of team suck realizes that i have a twisted sense of humor. but as far as photographing dead animals is concerned i'm not cool with it in this challenge. it can be done right but what i've seen are gratuitous shock attempts. it is to this challenge what "ambulance chasing" is to lawyers. it implies a serious lack of talent and vision.
i don't normally find myself this judgemental but what i've seen in these pics is just pathetic.
i will vote accordingly. |
