Call this an 'underrated' type post I guess.

I ended up fairly in line with my top picks overall and how they finished. There were a couple of surprises, or ones I picked to finish higher than I thought they would.

- 39th, HaikuSailor (liked the tone and texture, although this "theme" was fairly popular to do).
- 40th, bluezamia (might not be perfect compositionally, but sure gave me a good laugh).
- 41st, boysetsfire (nice DOF and composition overall, reading his comments afterwards was fun also).

If you have some to share, please do, but also please refrain from posting your own challenge entry. Our own is almost always underrated. :D

I think this picture was very underrated but maybe many people missed the resemblance between the model and Frida Kahlo. Frida was a famous (some would say infamous) Mexican painter who was married to the muralist Diego Rivera. Her life story was portrayed by Salma Hayek in the movie Frida in 2002.

The title of the entry are the last words entered into her diary in 1954. I think the image and title fit the challenge perfectly. I was surprised at the comments such asâ€Â¦

- “title doesn't really fit in with the picture”
- “I really don't understand”
- “beautiful image...but not sure if it fits challenge. very beautiful image though”

I think it deserved a much higher score.

I got the Frida reference. I just didn't see anything about the photo that showed anything about Frida other than the resemblance. (Her resemblance is probabaly closer to Selma Hayek than to the real Frida.)

Without the title this is a fine portrait of a lovely subject. JMHO

Hard to conclude otherwise when it's in last place though ...

I looked at your profile to see if that was your first Brown, but I see you finished 147th out of 146 entries in Jump (-1%). Yikes! That's gotta be a record!

I'm surprised mine didn't score lower.

I think it was the lack of ponies and unicorns.

Oddly enough, GeneralE, I thought your entry was quite appropriate. Sobering, actually - play on words intended. I liked the fact it was grainy and slightly out of focus - completely fit the message.
