Could you take a look at a couple of pages on my web site please ?
It seems to work in IE, firefox windows & linux, mozilla, but apparently it screws up in safari

//www.mcgregorphoto.com

go to the 'portraits' link and click on some of the vertical orientation portraits. They appear to turn out stretched to horizontal aspect ratios in safari - is that true ?

Hmm. Must just have been the mac I tried it on. It went a bit weird.

Thanks though!

It's true for me. The vert portraits were stretched oddly.

They look good only if I click the "back" button...if I click the "next" button the photo gets stretched.

A number of the portrait (vertical) images look stretched (as if they're using the landscape orientation instead).

Beautiful website!

Looks great on Firefox.

I am getting the same effect on my puter too. Good with Previous, stretched with clicking it or Next

Ditto (Safari 2.0.4). The 'next' button, however, works somewhat intermittently on Firefox.

this is wacky..I checked and it all worked...I had been clicking on one shot at a time...then I used next button and I got the same stretched affect everyone else did...and then I would click ona shot and whammo, they were all stretched...a bug of sorts...

Well, thanks to everyone who tried it. I guess I'll have to find out what's weird about safari to fix it.

I put Safari and Firefox side by side and they both looked the same to me and I'm running MacBook Pro here

Stretched on my iMac...thats sucks. Sorry for trouble.

My older 03 model G5 loaded them right the first round, then scrolling thru the second time they were streched as you said. How'd you do that? No need to answer for me, but others may like to know about this just in case it happens with their sites.

I think a while back that I remember a post about a fix for macs iPhoto having a problem with "in camera" programs that turn the verticals right side up when you download them from the camera. Maybe this has something to do with it. If I can find it I will send the link.

It may be something in your code for the "next" button. It is stretching the photo to fill whole area...I would look at that code first.
I would look at what settings you have for the "
and "

If you want a quick fix...

Make all the shots the same width as the landscape ones in PS. Use a white canvas. This way the portrait shots will actually be filling the landscape space.

Yeah, that would work. But I'm not going to redo all the pictures for 3% of web users. Its just a pain though. I think it is because safari doesn't support CSS2 max- & min- height/width properties properly.
