Awesome. Then build one of these and go mobile with the whole deal.

I think I'll just start working on my upper body strength.

Now that I think about it, this rig is pretty impressive too.

WARNING: Evidently some workplace content filters find pictures of asian women photographing people while wearing ridiculous lighting headgear pornographic and may block it, maybe even flag you so you can have a little sitdown with HR. Possibly they'll just come to your office and shoot you in the head or poison your sushi with polonium 210.

Great. Thanks for getting me to a 'blocked for pornographic content' page, early in the day.

Sheesh, tell me if you see anything even remotely pornographic here:

In Spazmo's defense, the pornographic content is by no means obvious from the pages he was pointing toward. It's "there", but he's not linking to porn.

I have no idea. I cant see them. Now you are embedding direct links to sites that people's filters think are porn sites. Want to edit those and maybe stick a warning on the link too ? :)

I don't want to, but I will coz you're special.

Wow. Now I'm implicated in a case of multiple copyright violations and image theft. This day just gets better and better ;)

I think if I ran around after children, in a park, in America (the land of the free to arrest you and detain you for looking at children) with that hat/ umbrella deal on, I'd be getting asked some questions.

Ah well, I only violated the pornographers rights for a few moments so you could see them.

You might get asked some questions, but as long as you were clothed, you might escape with just a beating.

can you violate a pornographer?

from my bio: Biography: I've just recently learned that in "Nude Photography" it's the models that are supposed to be nude. Don't make the same mistake I did. Very Embarrassing.

Good question.

That has to be the coolest thing EVER. I'd use one, but it is often quite windy here. I just don't know if I want to make that trip to the ER for having my neck sprain from a sudden gust.

Anyway, I do a lot of portraiture with only a Lightsphere and available light. Keep in mind I'm usually on location, whether it be a wedding or some type of boudior shoot.

Seems to have all up side and no down side - nice hands free setup, gets strangers to smile at you, amuses little kids and from the first pic anyway, seems to be very effective.

Er... Hold, I think I just thought of the downside.... :-)

Right so I should be buying some kind of helmet and attaching an umbrella to it. Wow im sorted:P

Thanks guys heh.

On serious note, Prof_Fate I think thats all all perhaps a bit too much for me, I think I will maybe get some basics as people have suggested at some point.

The point on what sort of portraiture I want to shoot is a good point, bit of everything really, prolly glamour on the majority though.

I think for now as alot of people have suggested that I just need to get to know how light works and play with what I've got.

I might buy some foam or a reflector or something. I dont think I can afford an external flash this year (good thing year is almost over, i can justify it next year:P)

Thanks again for advice:) I shall keep investigating and experimenting.

As for lighting...you can do what I did. I went out and got two 500W halogen work lights and a 250 halogen work light (for background lighting).....Then decide to shoot all your shots outside just using natural sunlight. Always a good idea.

Granted all the lights that I got only cost a total of about $40.
