How many images do you have to sell to reach the diamond level?

I hit the 2500 mark a while back, but I think the next level is way on up there somewhere.

I'm so disappointed at my sales drop-off there in the last two months that I'm about ready to terminate my exclusivity contract with them and start selling those same images on other sites. I can't understand why my sales have dropped to about half of the norm for no reason. I literally went from averaging $60/$70 per month to $25/$30 per month starting around the first of October.

I say terminate your exclusivity at Istock....I am on 7 other sites and three of them make me way more than Istock in a month.

You are losing so much money!

1. Shutterstock gets me the most money!
2. FotoliaNext to Shutterstock in sales
3. DreamstimeWow this site had really come up in the last few months for me!
4. Istockphoto Making less money every month...Was my best selling about two months ago now number 4.

Nick your success has been incredible! How have you done it? Besides natural talent - of which you have tons - what do you think has been the single greatest factor in your success?

As for being a Getty photographer, wow wow wow. Huge congratulations on such a monumental achievement.

Thanks so much guys, its been a dream of mine since I started stock to one day make it onto one of the big sites like getty or corbis. This dream just happened so much sooner than i could have ever imagined :-)

nova - hmmmm there have been lots of important milestones in my stock journey, i would prob have to thank the community here at dpc for teaching me so much about photography and introducing me to microstock in the first place way back in october 2004... I definetely couldnt have passed the initial inspections without those few challenge entries i had at the time :-) The biggest turning point since then was going to the istockalypse in Boston, meeting so many of my microstock idols in person was like being backstage surrounded by rock stars and I truly learnt so much from them it was an eye-opening experience. And the third big milestone for me was becoming an istock exclusive in Feb. I remember telling myself as i hit the submit button on the exclusive application that my life was about to change. Wow its been such a experience!

Hey Nico, I was looking at the announcement over at istock and THIS little blurb caught my eye:

"Once we move beyond the pilot stage, Gold Exclusives will be brought on board as well."

That gives some incentive to all of us who sell on istock. In the meantime, congrats again to you. I am wondering if this might have you reconsidering your career path...

Best, Ray

(edit to add): Just checked your blog and found the answer to my question. No matter where your photography successes may take you, I still see "Dr. Nico" in your future! Hat's off to you.
