Oh, I'm definitely settling. At this point I'm sorely tempted to go buy a motor home and live in the parking lot where I work. I would, but I doubt I'd get an internet connection there.
Seriously, I'm taking the place with the icky basement. I can close a few doors (sadly, can't shut off the basement entirely, as the spiral staircase/deathtrap mechanism runs the whole height of the house) and hope the mustiness stays behind them. I hate the carpet stuff - it's what I know as indoor/outdoor stuff. And I hate the bedrooms. I'm not sure what to do with the small room at the front - it has a loft kinda thing that's even smaller with a window but requires a ladder to go up and down. I'm no longer at a "get excited about a ladder" age. It has a nice living room. It's available. I think there was sort of a kitchen. I'll be happy.

This won't help much in the winter when the air is dry but as the weather becomes warmer, a portable dehumidifier in the basement might help with the musty smell. As much as you're tempted, I would not store anything in the basement. It's possible that it floods. |

As I mentioned (I think) after LOW started, I made two more editing steps to my entry and produced this outtake.
I reckon the outtake was an improvement, and probably would have fared better, for one thing the background is more white and less sickly grey.
Still, you can never quite tell where to stop with post processing. |

I'm so disappointed about my Bond entry. I worked hard on it and had high hopes. Oh well, c'est la vie. At least I had fun, and high hopes are exhilarating while they last.

I've just been to see the new Bond film, and it was pretty good, so the images had better match up, or I'll be voting them all as 1. :p |

I do like this outtake better. I think the lighter background enhances the subject better. |

I'm not saying that you suck or anything, but you are welcome to join us. There's some room on Team Minus, Team Novice and the OOFers, as far as I can tell. |
I would like to be on one of the teams. I am already on one of the WPL teams though. Can I be on both. Our WPL team is getting our butt's kicked because three of the members won't participate. I am on Team D50. Let me know if I can join a team.
By the way, I currently have a shot in Free Study (Getting my butt kicked) and Diagonal(Getting my butt kicked). I also put one in for LifeII.

bmartuch why don't you consider Team Novice? I love your photos and suspect you'll bring our average up :-) |

Speaking for Team Minus, which can't seem to scrape together 3 participants each week, I think we get him. :)

You appear to have invites from Teams Novice and Minus. It's helpful for you to indicate which team you would like to be on. |

By the way, Michael, your 6th place shot is an excellent example of how HDR can be used for good rather than evil. Nicely done! |
Thanks Deb,
I wanted this shot to kind of resemble the old fashioned paintings of olde worldy towns you see and as Warwick is very much one of these (It has Britains most medieval castle just up the road), when you stand back from the final result it looks like its a painting and when you get up close you get the dynamicity of the HDR flooding through, I am planning on doing a series of these for our local area and seeing if I can acehive something god enough to seel through some graphics / art shops in the local towns as their very touristy and maybe this sort of thing would sell...
Thanks for your wonderful comment too :0)

Deb,
I can really sympathize with your housing plight and my thoughts are with you! When I lived in Japan during college, my roomate and I found a great place to live, thought everything was good to go, then at the last minute got axed because we are "gaijin" (literally - people from the outside). We'd already given notice on our existing apartment and ended up sleeping in a church for two weeks. Guess it is all part of the overseas adventure, but it is a lot for fun in retrospect than when it is happening sometimes. Best luck to you, and keep on shooting those great shots! |

Actually, I wouldn't mind being on either team. I want to go to the team that has the greatest need for a lousy photographer. I want to go to a team that needs someone that receives the following types of comments:
Ouch! Death by processing! 4
whoa,noise, 5
And lets not forget my favorite.
This is not artistic, it's just a sign (for the neon sign challenge)

Both novice and minus need a member, flip a coin? |

Welcome to the team! Glad to have you. I've gotten a few of those 'death by processing' type comments myself. You'll fit right in :-) |

Hmm....here's a question for the group at large...
Just sent in proof for my Bond pic, am praying it doesn't DQ'd but it may. First of all, posthumous, does that mean my score won't count? (Or do I get bonus marks? I am on Team Minus!;-) and second someone left a comment asking if I'd post a tutorial on it! Is that allowed, whether or not the pic gets DQ'd?

And my Famous Last Words continues to suck nicely at 4.400 or so. Can't let my team down!

Whether or not it gets DQd shouldn't affect a tutorial, though you'd probably want to mention in the tutorial that a certain effect (or whatever) is not legal for challenges - if it gets DQd that is. |

We don't have an official WPL policy. For all I know, some of our members are already in WPL. Anybody else have an opinion on this? Any quiet observations on this matter, huh?
