What's in your camera bag? Car?

Do you take your camera EVERYWHERE you go? Is your car always packed with little things, tripod ect JUST IN CASE ?

Yeah, I take my camera with me 99% of the time. In my car is always my tripod, a flashlight, and extra batteries.

In my camera case (I just got a new camera and case, weehee!) I now have an extra compact flash card, an extra battery, a UV Filter, and I'm thinking about also carring the battery charger along, since it only takes about 2 hours and if I'm at a friend's or something it's conceivable I can recharge my batteries if necessary.

I usually have my camera, three sets of batteries, the remote and a tripod. Sometimes I will also take a piece of white cardboardand an umbrella. Right now there is also a mannequin torso in my car for a specific project.

I am going to start carrying my camera more... in this past wee, the photo opportunities I have missed are:

1. A prototypical fireman in almost full gear in front of his truck, alarms blaring, lights flashing.... and he was smoking a cigarette.

2. A white housecat in a field stalking a Canadian goose - who was flailing his wings in preparation of defending himself.

and most recently, and appropriate for this week's challenge:

3. A concert that had a garbage can prominently displayed in one of its drum sets. The first song had the drummer beating on it and wit was rather well lit so I could have gotten some interesting shadows as well... a sure winner.

Oh well, back to my boring ideas for this challenge...

Mark

Not with me as often as it should be... I am usually driving along and see something and remark on what a good shot it would have been... my kids in the back seat say "Should just bring your camera everywhere, mom!"

I bought a new backpack style camera bag. The bottom is fitted with padding for the camera, extra lenses (if I had any! ;) ) my lense hood, spare batteries, polarizer. The top section (2nd compartment) is soft and has a little pocket for my remote and spare memory cards.. little notebook and pen for whatever, fold-up reflector, manual! :), little flashlight, and tissues and snacks for the kids!

The cool thing is it just looks like a day pack, not a camera bag.

One of the advantages of my "point and shoot" camera is I can keep it in a tiny shoulder bag and get it out and shoot within 10-15 seconds or so, even when I'm driving. I STILL miss a lot of shots, though...I do try and keep it with me almost all the time. My tripod's oten in the car, but I rarely use it. I'm thinking of making up a couple of sandbags to keep in the trunk.

BTW -- I got my "camera bag" at a local thrift store for $1; they often have a variety of backpacks, suitcases, briefcases, and even camera bags, mostly under $5-10, and (usually) perfectly functional. Save money and support a worthy charity -- buy used!</advice>

I carry a small tripod, remote control, extra compact flash, lens tissues, and a few thick plastic bags in case I get caught in the rain.
I usually only take out my camera on the weekends. I should bring my camera wherever I go. I certainly miss alot of opportunities ... my work sometimes brings me out in the country to meet with farmers. There's some really nice scenes out there. I guess I don't think of that when I'm in work mode. That's OK I'll be retiring soon ... in about 30 years.

Hmmm camera bag ... or car? I'll start with the
cam bag: - which i just got a new one as well .. a smaller backback with padded sides and lotsa pockets :)

extra batteries
quick charger
my polorizer filter (working on getting more)
64 MB flash card (keep 128 in the cam)
notebook and a couple pens
tiny utility knife (easier than carrying scissors)
my planner
small photo portfolio book (4x6)

and some girlie stuff like chapstick and stuff like that - heheheh

Now my car .. that's a whole other story that i really dont wanna get into - hahahah

I will always bring my camera where ever i go - and luckily it's even easy to drive and shoot ... I've captured rainbows

like this oneout my sunroof while driving down the interstate .... kinda got lucky since of course my eyes are on the road and not on the camera - hehehehe
You never know when you'll have a photo op - like this one as well :)

Have a great day!

Great shots. I wish my sunroof worked -- it's a pain to shoot out the windows or through the windshield.

That capability is one of the things I like about my camera too -- I have a folder of "Moving Pictures" at pBase. Also, my first TWO submissions at DPC were shot while driving...

I carry my camera just about everywhere...that includes: department stores, malls, supermarkets, restaurants, church, library, and more. In my camera bag is extra memory cards, batteries, lens tissues, and sometimes extra lenses, especially macro, wide angle, but not usually. In my car I have a small tripod I rarely use. I sometimes bring my big, heavy duty Slik tripod. At times I bring a few cameras and a camcorder if hubby comes along to help carry the stuff. We also bring binoculars.
A few times I left my camera home and I really felt like something was missing. A sinking feeling.
One of my favorite shots was taken at Walmart.

My camera fits in my pocket and I have a small tripod (about 3 x 1 x .5 inches folded) that also fits in my pocket. If I'm there, so is my camera.

ooh! of course, I forgot to mention my tripod is always in the car, and the quick attachment is always on the mount of my camera so that I can quickly slip it into position... (silly me to forget that).

Let's see...my camera bag is for my 35mm SLR. I have it with a zoom lens and flash attachment. I also have extra film and AA batteries. I don't keep my digital camera in the case because I like to be able to grab it quickly if I see a shot. Plus, it gets moved around more because I hook it up to the computer when I get home from shoots to upload the pictures. The other day, I was stopped at a red light. A storm was blowing in and there were some neat clouds behind the tallest building in our city. I grabbed the camera, rolled down the window, and stuck my arm out to grab the shot. Well, the light turned green and I ended up getting a good shot of the pavement. OH WELL! My husband was needing to get to his dentist appointment...otherwise I would have stopped to set up better.

Ayme, I love the rainbow picture you got from out of your sunroof. That is real pretty.

Same here, tripod always in car, and although my 35mm hasn't been out of the bag in over a year, it's always there in the car too!

I have my canon s30 in a very little pouch, a small slik table tripod, a 'clamp', lens tissue. And zat tiz zit ;-)

I think that even if I have a 'bridge' camera in the future, I will still keep my s30 ... small enought to carry almost all the time.
