Cliche or not, it worked very well for that presentation. I really enjoyed the challenge - and I did note that the correct font and placement made a difference in the overall impact. Christian's, for instance, was also dead-on for the card she created even though she also got a lot of comments against it. I've come to really enjoy viewing the Team Suck entries.

Well, Year is going down (though still above 5) and Light is going up ever so slightly. I wonder if it will break a 4.

Courier was perfect. And as I commented, I really liked how you highlighted the last two words.

You could be right. The over-sharpening hurt the shot a little I think, one of those things that I didn't notice until afterwards.

The clouds. Well. I actually processed them seperately and they were underexposed / contrasty compared to the rest of the shot already. In fact on my screen they are already pretty "moody".

So I decided to play with re-editing it, and knocked up this version

Which removes the distracting border, lessens the sharpening, and burns in the sky more. Who can say?

Yes. Ahem. Of course I was going for that effect ;)

I still need the collage practice--team photos with our t-shirts on. Hopefully no one minds if I chop an ear or two off or shed a few pounds here and there.

I'd take a photo to express it, but it would be in no way representative ;)

i'm thinking you may have something with your third guess.

well done all inthe postcards. and thank you so much for the lovely comments, not just on the postcards, but onmy bragging thread lasat week. or so. whenever it was.

it has been very hectic, so much that entering is really the only thing i've been able to do. i'm thrilled that my studio is starting to happen, but it's taking away from dpc time, dammit.

i don't know if this is legal, but if you know which is my 'year you were born', please go and vote it DOWN. it's doing really well, and i don't want to spend the next forever looking at it on my front page. so, please please please gogive it a 1. i'm serious, don't go and vote it up because youthink i'm being perverse. if you don't want to vote it down, don't, but if you would, it would be appreciated. i know this is treading the line of illegal, but i can't stand the idea fo this image being on my homepage forever. it's doing theat well, it'd take me forever to top it.

we had a car crash, totalled the car, but we're ok. thank goodness.

OK, I know it isn't funny, but I laughed out loud thinking "My gosh, the woman has her priorities straight!" She's worried about not having enough time for DPC when her real job is getting serious, and doesn't want a particular shot to score well, then mentions a car crash as an afterthought.

Seriously, glad to hear you're all OK. And you're sure you're all OK? (See above comment about priorities.) And I do know what you mean about getting a high score on a picture that's not one you want to look at forever. I will never get rid of my birds. They're cute, yeah, but I'm tired of 'em. On the other hand, a couple of those that have long fallen off are ones I'd rather see up there. Along with a few that never made it at all.

Our philosopher has struck again :D) And great idea for the team motto. I'll go for the T-shirt -- with Team Suck logo and motto?

Thanks for the comments on my postcard outtake JuliBoc. It's a learning experience ;)

Meanwhile, I reloaded my LOW entry into photoshop, did two more editing steps and think that it looks a lot better than the photo that I submitted. Unfortunately too late now, but at least I can feel a bit better about what is looking like it will be my lowest score EVER. Even beating my PEAS challenge entry, which was rubbish.

Xianart,
Glad you are okay after car crash! Sounds scary. LOL about the priority in your e-mail, though not the crash itself, of course. DPC truly is all-consuming.

Posthumous, I LOVE the T-shirt idea. I'm in!

I just hit 5.0 with my light on white. Hope it holds.

Did anyone else enter Famous Last Words? My entry is sucky, but for this challenge, I think it should be sucky. Hopefully it is at least *funny* sucky and not just *boring* sucky.

Sorry, don't know which is yours. Can't help you out there.

Really sorry to hear about the car crash. Glad you're all ok, but even so, those things take their toll on the nerves. You'll probably be very jumpy for a while.

No, I entered Diagonal. I quite like the shot, and would give myself a 7 or 8. Of course that doesn't mean anyone else will agree with me.

I have been too busy lately to spend much time on DPC, but did manage to enter a sucky light on white:

I don't really like it and didn't have time to perfect the shot or the processing, but entered anyway. Since I didn't have anything entered last week, I was having an attack of Update Withdrawal Syndrome.
I also have an OK (time will tell!) shot in diaganol. Not planning on doing Bond, but it is early still. Should have a free study to score low on.
Hopefully my schedule will settle down soon and I will be able to keep up with all the threads again!

I'm also in diagonal, with a shot that I quite like. So I'll be waking up to another 4.x.

Truely my campagin in suck has progressed since joining the Suck League. Before joining I was looking at around 5.5 and about to break the 5 average. Now I'm almost a point lower. That takes real skill.

bloody Yorkies - don't even know they've been born...

BTW, I think that Conisbrough castle shot needs (for the sake of dpc palettes) surreal clarity in the structure of the walls of the castle. Maybe you'd get a better result if you had (sun)light coming at it from an angle?

See, you entered a photo of a tomato in a peas challenge, and the score is almost as high as my LOW photo just now. This amuses me.

Probably. There are improvements that could have been made with a re-shoot - better light, improved clarity etc.. I still quite like it, even though it was not that well recieved here.

we're all fine. i played vehicular pinball with the guardrails for about 500m, and the car ground to halit with a broken strut and blown tire, and completely trashed front right side. but, we're fine. lucky. the two fire chiefs who just happened to see it happen said they were impressed with my driving, which made me feel a little better, i suppose. that, and the thought that my son and i weren't dead.

amazing how it concentrates the mind. i've done more of what i should have done in the past two days than i have in the past year.

come on, keep trashing my year you were born entry, if you can. i mean it.
