I believe that trolls have very poor resolution monitors. Maybe 16 colors or something. |

When I awoke my entry had 42 votes and a score of 4.12. Then, with 200+ votes the score had climbed to 5.76 and had moved up, not fluctuated, consistently the whole week. The conclusion: it depends on where in the vote count the trolls vote. If early on, the lower votes have a larger effect. If later on not as much. If the 'trolls' hadn't voted the entry so low to begin with, it would not have had such a hard time climbing back up and I dare say if it wasn't voted low in the first six hours of voting it would have been over a six. Troll votes DO have an effect if they vote when an individual vote carries more weight. All the comments on the image also stated that it is an excellent shot...if it is that good it should be higher than 5.76. |
Alienyst, I'm utterly baffled by your post. When you vote has no meaning in the end. Yes, your running score depends on the order your votes come in, but not the end result.
When you say "Troll votes DO have an effect if they vote when an individual vote carries more weight." what do you mean by "carries" more weight? No vote carries any more weight than another in the end result.
I apologize if you're just goofing around, but this kind of misunderstanding of math is common enough to be believable.

I've so had it with this troll BS that for the next challenge I am going to score everything on a 1 to 5 scale.

Hard to get color balance and contrast right in the ambient lighting under a bridge ;-)

so why not have a vote to turn scores off for one challenge??? see what happens to the votes when people cannot compare their score to the photo they are looking at. "well this photo doesn't deserve better then mine" etc. |

Trolls get tired of voting in the massive free challenges, just like anyone else. Your image just didn't attract the trolls as a thumbnail.

Not another discussion about trolls. Do I have to go into my infamous turd analogy again? I hope not...
BTW: I would have voted all three of the top images down. I think that they all look horribly overprocessed!

what if a couple people really hated those photos. I know they won, but out of say 300 people who vote, a couple could really not like the winning photos.
Its like this, has anyone seen the movie The Notebook? I was told by a female friend it was the greatest movie I would ever see. I got about half way through and wanted to kill myself, it was so terrible I couldn't even put myself to sleep with all the suicidal thoughts going through my head. As a matter of principal, I don't turn off movies I start, I just watch and complain later.
Maybe its the same.

Everybody thinks somebody is a troll, but nobody knows if somebody is a troll. I wonder if everybody is correct about somebody because someone is surely a troll! Everybody said somebody̢۪s a troll, but nobody admits to being a troll. If someone would fess up then nobody would have to start these threads that everybody reads. It sure makes me wonder if somebody̢۪s a troll if somebody gives everybody scores 1-3 and nobody scores 8-10. Perhaps somebody should check everybody to make sure his scores don̢۪t favor anyone else.
