Gotta say I think that the DQ on the butterfly & bird shot was a bit unfair, being as the rules said you could use more than 1 capture.

yeah, but, sadly, they didn't make it properly clear that it's only as an hdr image - more than one capture of a single scene, as in bracketing exposure. perhaps they should have used that phrase to clarify it.

there was some very good work last week. i'm sure everyone's will be great this week as well.

The first two commenters specifically mentioned how they liked the font and one of the features in the photo. The third specifically mentioned not liking the font or that same feature.

Here's where you have to put all comments through your own filter.

My philosophy on all entries, high score or no, is that you'll connect with some folks on everything you do. It's harder to keep that in mind with a string of sub-5 scores, but just look at the 6 and up votes you get on each shot. Esp. when you get a comment like the one I got from Don on my B&W. I was definitely going for a photojournalism feel, and he got that. :)

I was so bummed when this shot got DQ'd. It was doing by far the best of anything I've submitted - around 6.2. I totally misunderstood the HDR thing. But cest la vie.

I think our overall scores may go up a bit now that the message is popping up that comments should be left for ratings of 3 and below.

I was in Postcard, and had a 5.6, but pulled it. I'll explain why after the challenge (and put the picture in my portfolio.)

Spots will be my second highest score if it holds 'til rollover. :-)

very few people got the joke. the picture would have been better if the background wasn't so busy but the man i shot was definately in fashion for the renaissance period.

now i've shot something for headwear and it's not what you would call "normal" headwear and someone finally pointed that out.

oh well... i'm cruising with a 3.7 and i'm happy with that...

it is out of focus after all.
