I just realized-one of those little ironies-the self portrait on my profile page was taken in PSFS building the one in the neon challenge. |

Greetings, fellow Sucksters.
First, I liked each and every one of your Neon entries - all good work. Second, I haven't made it through the reflection entries yet, but I will when I get a chance (like maybe now..). Third, Yay Team Hoovers!!
And now for more on Deb's Mediocre Adventures in Moving. I'm sitting here at lovely Dallas Fort Worth, next to the ticketing desks. Why? They won't let me through security with the cats and I don't want to check them in yet because the flight is already delayed at least an hour, and I was here early to begin with. So me, the cats, the laptop - we're just hangin' here. I bribed a very wonderful welcome desk guy (I should go take his picture) to watch my beloved critters while I went into that blessed zone - BEYOND SECURITY - where all good things are - like Starbucks. So I have (should say "had") my coffee and my scone. Cats are enjoying the relative peace and quiet here, and I'm not too bored yet. I do suspect further delays due to high winds - 30-40 mph this morning. We'll see.

quiet is right. Team Entropy needs SickDog. Even with him, they did not manage to get three people to participate. So, only 4 teams competing this week leaves the following results:
I would be happy to join entropy although i'm warning you, i used my imagination for headwear and am cruising at a 3.77 as a result.
maybe i'll fair better in perspective. |

Oh, this is so cool - like reading one of those personal travel stories in a Sunday paper. Be sure and take photos along the way.

Update - dropped off the cats. They seemed none too happy about that either, I might add. They'll have at least one other furry critter for company down there in cargo - a nicely sedated (and caged) German shepard, whose owners are also headed to Germany, although a different part.
The gate where my plane is located is mass pandemonium. I can't tell whether another plane is loading ahead or not, but the sign still says we're not leaving until an hour after the scheduled time. I'll wander back down there shortly, but for a few minutes I'll sit here where I found a power outlet. Woo hoo! That way I can juice this baby up a bit and hopefully download the one or two "life at the airport" pics I took. (You'd think the airport powersthatbe would determine that power is a commodity and start putting outlets with little quarter slots attached.)
Anyway, with luck, the next update will be from a nice warm hotel room somewhere in Germany. Depends on how much I have to do when I get there, since it'll be Thursday morning and I may have to run around a bit. I'll be tired, but excited!! |

Delayed more. Something about winds, only two runways, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, found another outlet closer to the gate I'm leaving from and hope to get up to 100% charge on the battery. Isn't that exciting?? I knew you'd think so. Hey, maybe I can even do a quick edit and upload a picture before I leave...
And there you go!

Just checked the weather channel and there is a wind advisory around Dallas 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45. |

Yep, been that way since late last night. Down to two active runways and the big boys (like the one I'm going to be on) have been released kinda slowly during the day. Looks a lot calmer now than it did this morning, though. Still waiting, but we do now have a plane at the gate. That's a good sign, right? Poor kitties... they're SO gonna hate me... |

A plane at the gate is good. At least you can look at it longingly.
You are going the owe the kitties big time. |

Melethia,
Hope you and your kitty cats are doing well and will arrive safe and sound! I just had my cats sent from Montana to South Carolina (not quite the same as Germany, I realize) and I was one worried mother. They hate traveling.
BTW - anyone entering post card? I just finished and submitted. I'm pretty happy with it...which means it will most likely suck!

Wow. After dropping to 5.62 in Spots, I just had a 12-vote run where I averaged 6.8, bringing me up to 5.77! Another 100 votes at that pace and I'll have a pretty good score. ;)

i'm still cruising at a 3.8 in headwear. it's too dark and i did shoot it at the last minute. im shooting everyday now so i have six candidates for perspective now.
i like being a member of entropy... it makes me feel like more than a suck, it makes me feel like the degradation of the matter and energy in the universe to an ultimate state of inert uniformity.
by the way, what's an oobie? |

Update - Guten tag! Yep, we're here, and though the cats weren't very happy looking when I went to get them, they're fine now. They're exploring our room as I type. And the really nice housekeeping/maintenance guy even found me a lovely 2-prong Euro to 3-prong American socket dealie so my laptop can have power.
Tis a lovely day here in Germany - sunny and cool. I've got to go run errands and stuff on the base here shortly - with luck I'll grab a picture or two. |

The Sucker!!
This glorious award will be presented by members of Team Suck to worthy photographers of DPC in order to recognize achievements that may otherwise not get recognized.
The Oobie Sucker. Standing for "Out Of the Box," this award is granted to the most creative entry in a challenge. Remember, this is not for the technically best photo, which is what the normal voting seems to cover. This is for artistic inspiration and/or creative interpretation of the challenge. But please, nominate an entry that inspires you, NOT the entry you least understand.
Second, the Yappie Sucker. This award is granted to the best commentor in a challenge. If someone gave you a great comment, or if you happen to read one after the challenge is over, please nominate the commentor.
This week the Hoovers, for having impaired suckage, have the honor of awarding the Oobie and Yappie.

Guten tag!
It really does seem sometimes that one small step fo Charles Lindberg is an endless thrutch for the likes of you and me. I think the Germans (although all generalisations are dangerous, especially this one) are pretty sound to get on with. Just never, ever, be late for anything.
Oh, and send pictures.
And can someone tell me if the link to Pictures of Florence in my sig lives up to its promise?

Ponte Vecchio is a good opener. I really like the early morning and evening photographs - the light is beautiful and colors soft and appealing. My favorite is Just Another Italian Courtyard with the thought that this is the norm. |

Thanks MaryPostMel - I just worked out how to see the comments. Guess I'll have to fork over some dosh before the 30 day trial is done so I can have room for even more of the same.
Impressed and awed by your profiles an' ting.
If Deutschland is really Über Alles then you have to walk into it sooner or later.
I have headware, b&w and HDR all running at over 4.5. Things are humming.

Or... you could just post stuff in your portfolio here which is a lot easier for us to comment on and for others from this site to see... :-)
Just a thought. |

I had an idea for Year I Was Born, but it would require some actual photographic skill. Maybe I can get bucket to do it for me... he rhymes with suck, kinda... |
